Guest at Sunday Songs and Rhymes!

I'm honored to be a Guest Designer over at  The Outlawz Sunday Song and Rhyme where the idea is to create inspired by the Bing Crosby Song "Swinging On A Star"!  You can see all the lyrics HERE.

I chose this part of the song:

"Would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule"

Ok, now for my disclaimer!  I realize the digi above is a donkey and NOT a mule!  I also have high regard for the mule!  With all respect to Bing Crosby and his lyrics, the mule is NOT stupid or weak in the brain!  The mule is possibly the brightest of all the equine animals...yes, it's true.  Many a "stubborn" mule, who wouldn't listen to the riders, have saved their 'stupid humans' from making life ending errors on the trails.  The mule is the chosen equine for the Grand Canyon tours because of their thinking abilities and refusal to make risky mistakes.

Whew, now that I've cleared up all that, on with the crafting....
Wondering how this all came together?  It's all in the video below!

Many thanks to Susan for inviting me to play along with the talented team at The Outlawz Sunday Song and Rhyme Challenge!  You are invited to visit and share your creativity sparked by this song!

Summer Thoughts

It's that wonderful time of year when the flowers are blooming and summer is right around the corner!  The sun is shining longer during the day and there's more time to be out and enjoy time with friends.  Of course, there are always those special friends who live far away and it's nice to drop them a card to let them know what they mean to us!

This lovely sentiment from Conie Fong combined with this spring bunny delivering a flower seems perfect to convey that message!

You can learn more about Conie and her art on her Etsy Site or Facebook.  There is also a challenge site for Conie Fong images:  Conie Fong FaceBook Challenge.  Everyone is invited to join and play along using Conie Fong images!

Wondering how I put this together and achieved the No Lines flower border for coloring?  Check out this video for layering images!

All About Embellishments

Time for a new challenge at The Outlawz Paper à la Mode and the theme is 'All About Embellishments.'  That's an easy theme; simply show us some embellishments: gems, ribbon, eyelets, pearls, lace, ribbon, twine, etc!

I was inspired to create a bunch of embellishments using embellishments!  My plan is to use these in different journals and layouts.  Many of them are for my horse and riding journals.   Most of them were created using scraps, old clothing tags, torn jeans and leftover pieces.  I even reused some gems!

Wondering about my process?  Check out the video below to see how I put these pieces together! There is also a close up of each one (and a few I missed in this photo) at the end of the video!  If you are only interested in a particular piece, there is a Table of Contents in the Description Box of this video for your convenience!

Board Game Inspired at Twisted Thursday

It's time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the optional twist is: Board Games!  You might be inspired by the game board, the rules, the colors, the theme, or the game's box!
I chose to go with the game Ticket to Ride!  Below is a picture
of the box and board.

The idea of this game is to build train lines across the map on the game board between the major cities of North America!  Of course, all the other players are doing the same thing and can block you with their lines!

Curious how I put the train shadow on the inside of the card?
