I'll bee there for you.

Guess what..........I'm happy to share I am on the Design Team for  The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenges!  Yes, what would be a better fit for me?  The blog site has sort of a western feel to it and Twisted Thursday is always anything goes with an optional twist.  That means you can play along EVERY WEEK!  Yay!  How fun is that?  Wait, there's more.....there are prizes, fun, tutorials, and crafty camaraderie.

This week the challenge is sponsored by From the Heart Stamps and there is no twist, so there's no excuse not to play along!  Now, for my followers who aren't familiar with The Outlawz, you do have to join the site.  I promise you, that's no big deal.  Just answer a few questions (crafting style and such) and you're in!  Soon you'll be playing along with all the challenges; there are challenges everyday over there.

Ok, about this cute image, Bee Happy Birdbrain ~ I think it's adorable and it's free over at From the Heart Stamps!  I chose to use my CTMH Watercolor pencils and water brushes to color.  I put a little Studio G Glitter Glue on the wings.  The image was so cute, I didn't need to add much.  I chose this image because all the crafters over at The Outlawz have really been there for me to answer questions!  Thanks, ladies!

Thank you for joining me today.  I hope you'll click over to The Outlawz and check out their site!  You'll have a great time over there!

Cherries and Pig!

Ok, Pig juggling cherries.......now that's a bit funny!  I saw this paper in DCWV Pack called Berry Street Farmer's Market and thought what a fun bag it would make!  This is paper I have had in my stash for a long time!  I love making gift bags and I have to say one of my favorite patterns to cut is from the Happy Holidays SVG Kit.

This was an easy project.  I used coordinating paper from the same stack for the back of the bag and a solid green for the sides.

My little juggler is off to the following challenges:

Die Cuttin Divas:  3-D Projects
Outlawz Twisted Thursdays:  Something Funny!

Thanks for coming by today!  Feel free to check out my other pages/posts, YouTube Channel, or CTMH page!

Red, White & Blue

Red, white and blue!  That's the challenge over at Cut It Up this time.  You may use black and/or Kraft with your designated colors and your creation must include a die cut.

I started in Design Space importing the images pictured from CTMH Artbooking and Summer Celebrations.

I used Hide Contour to remove the speech bubble away from the heart - keeping the heart.  Then I did the same to remove  the heart from the banner -keeping the banner.  I liked the wider heart for this project.

I then ungrouped the 4th of July image and deleted the black layer and the white square.  Wait a minute, this is crazy.....let's just YouTube it!

Ok, that was much easier to explain that way!  Hopefully, it was easier for you, too!

I'm sending this card over to the following challenges:
The House that Stamps Built:  Photo Inspiration

Thanks for visiting today!  Feel free to hang around and watch more videos, peruse other posts/pages,  or check out CTMH stuff.

Books & Coffee

I am so lucky to be part of a craft class at our local library.  I thought it would be fun to make a decorative canvas highlighting our favorite drinks with books.  Everyone's canvas was a little different, but they all turned out so cute!  It is so interesting to present an artistic idea/sample along with materials and see what other people are inspired to make!

I cut the Cricut Cuts and supplied those along with the ink and canvases.  Many bring their own markers, stamps, adhesives, tools, etc.  Everyone shares, laughs, and encourages!  It's a great time.

So, this was the sample for class using the items listed below.

Scribbles Garden

Today I'm showing off this adorable Fall Topiary from Scribbles with the CTMH Sangria paper.  This was a quick and very back to basics card for me since I'm in the midst of a large project for a class tonight.  (I'll be sharing that soon; I don't want to give away too much before class!)

I started by Copic coloring the Topiary.  I sponged around the colored Image with Honey Ink.  I used scraps of Sangria Papers and separated some Flaxen Twine for the bow.  I adhered it all to the Champagne card base.  The image is on 3-D Tape.  I finished it off with some gold sequins and that's it!

Here's where I found my materials:
Scribbles Designs Image:  Pumpkin Fall Topiary
Copic Markers
CTMH Inks:  Honey
CTMH Cardstock:  Champagne, White Daisy
CTMH Paper:  Sangria

Video for Fun and/or Inspiration

Hi!  Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday afternoon.  It's hot and muggy here.....like most of this summer has been..... and the horses have been up to creating since they don't like physical activity in the heat!

So, what have those creative horses been doing over here at ScrappyHorses?  Here's a peek at some past, present, and future projects!  One hasn't even hit the blog yet!  How did those horses talk me into that?  ; )  You'll see a variety here; some of them you may recognize!  Let me know if you need help finding details for any of them.

I hope you found some inspiration for a project, or maybe just enjoyed looking at some pics with the music!  Have a great finish to the weekend and I'll be back this week with a more traditional post.

Christmas Card in July!

Time to share some of the projects I did while I was taking the Copic Jumpstart Class  (online) with Sandy Allnock.  On the heels of the on-line class, I was lucky enough to take some "live" classes with her in Indy at Palette & Paper!  I'll be sharing some pieces from those classes soon.

Anyway....back to this card.  I used the cute little girl holding one ornament from Fresh Brewed  and the FREE clump of Ornaments from Scribbles Designs.  I combined the two different images in Design Space to make one.  It seemed to be a great pairing.  Since I was in DS, I grabbed my sentiment from CTMH Artbooking.

This image worked as my example of coloring round shapes.  I also got to do some "ruffle shading" in that little dress and highlights in the ornaments.  These images served me well for my homework assignment.

This little one is carrying her ornaments to the following challenges:

Outlawz Twisted Thursday:  AG Optional Twish ~ Christmas in July
TTCRD:  AG
Christmas All Year Round:  AG as long as it's Christmas/Festive
ABC Christmas:  "N" is for No Rules (as long as it's Christmas!)

Thanks for checking out one of my homework assignments!  haha  Feel free to hang out and peruse other post/pages, shop CTMH, leave me a comment/message/question, or just start dreaming of Christmas!

Vintage Cowboy

This card includes retired CTMH except the gold ink and metal ring (not CTMH) and the Cardstocks/embossing folder/shimmer trim are current ~ well at least for another month!

Throw Back Week over at Heart 2 Heart!

Wow, ok, this is one of the first stamp sets I purchased from CTMH.  I'm not sure what year "Yeehaw" hit the Idea Book, but I can tell you this set is very well loved (used) and still going strong!  I thought it would be fun to show some past projects I've done with this set!  So, here goes....a walk down memory lane with YeeHaw!

Do you all remember when CTMH sold large packs of textured cardstock; I think it might have been a special promo?  I used a bleach technique on this one long before blogs!

Ok, here's the sentiment combined with the Old West Cartridge!  Can't remember this paper pack's name.

This is one "blinged out" cowgirl!  Do you
remember that belt buckle!
Still use that one, too!

 Loved and miss the burlap!

And there that cowgirl is again making her appearance in the WildWood Crush book!

So there is my TBW Stamp set Yeehaw!  There are some stamp sets that will forever grace the pages of my books, fronts of my cards, and journal entries.  This is one of them!  It's actually my YouTube Header!

Thanks for sharing this TBW moment with me!  I've been using CTMH for a while now and I really love the longevity of the stamps, ideas, and inks.  I've had some inks in my stash for 10 or more years and they are still good!  The stamps hold up to my twisting, cutting, bending, and all the mixed media "goo" I try.  Amazing stuff!

Little Rustic Blue Jay

Well, it certainly has been a hot, humid summer over most of the US.  I can't say this is weather I enjoy......truth is ~ I hate it!  I want to be outside riding horses, but it's just to dang uncomfortable.  However, the wildlife seems to enjoy it.  There are more birds, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, frogs, etc than I've ever seen out here!

I guess watching all the wildlife, along with a couple of challenge blogs, inspired this Blue Jay card I made for my dad.  Wildlife is fun to use since the background papers really set the tone for the project.  I find it's easy to "pretty them up" for ladies or choose a more rugged look for the guys.  Of course, we can always choose a neutral look for family occasions.

Material List

CTMH Cardstock/Paper:  Black, Colonial White, Jackson (retired), Penelope (retired)
CTMH Inks:  Cashmere, Gypsy, Chocolate, Flaxen
CTMH Stamp:  Wonderful You (retired)
Embellishments:  Durable Studs (retired), Darice Twine

My little Jay is flying off to the following challenges:

613 Avenue Create:  AG with optional twist ~ Use Birds or Feathers or Both
Outlawz Paper Ala Mode:  Getting Back to Nature

Thanks for stopping by today!  Feel free to hang out and visit other pages/posts, leave me a comment/question or message, shop the soon to be retired CTMH items, or check out my YouTube videos.

Christmas in July!

Well, it seems we are into July and after the 4th here in the US, we turn to Christmas in July!  I thought this would be a great time to publicly release my Last Minute Christmas Gift idea I had posted privately back in January.  This was posted in the TTCRD on-line Jan/Feb edition.

The video below gives all the details about the project and a material list.  Please note I said about umpteen million times (this is an exaggeration) I used an alcohol ink.... I did NOT use alcohol ink.  The CTMH inks I used on this project are water based dye inks.  CTMH does sell pigments inks, also.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7FT6CYt0f4

Material List:
5 inch pillar candle
1.5 inch burlap ribbon (I used CTMH, but it's retired now.)
CTMH Inks:  Chocolate, Champagne, New England Ivy, Cranberry
CTMH Cardstock:  Colonial White, Kraft
CTMH Embellishments:  Fern Twine, Red Enamel Gems, *White Pines
CTMH Stamps:  *White Pines, Hand Lettered Christmas
Lace from stash

*Bad News:  The White Pines is now retired.
Good News!!!  The new holiday papers from CTMH will be available in September; they will be featured in the Seasonal Expressions Book!  The new Annual Inspirations Idea Book will be available for you to see on-line August 1st!  If you'd like to see current books, go HERE.  Many items will be retiring; so if you are interested, order soon!

As always, please make yourself at home here.  I appreciate your time viewing my videos, reading my thoughts, and just hanging out here!  Do you have a video idea for me?  I've had some requests for more videos, but nothing in particular.  Is there a technique you want to see explained?  Is there a product from CTMH you want demo'd or to see a little more in depth?  Or maybe you've seen something on my blog you would like explained?  I'd be happy to do that for you!  Simply leave your ideas/questions in the comments below or contact me with your ideas using the button on the right side of the post.

Now, off to think about more Christmas projects!  ;)

Ice Cream!

Well, the sentiment sort of says it all!  This was a Stamp of the Month with CTMH last summer and I fell in love with it!  Ice cream is definitely one of my vices; I LOVE it!

Anyway, I'm sending this off to Fantabulous Cricut Challenge since they are celebrating National Ice Cream Month!

A Little Shakespeare Today

Let's start off with this:  I am not a literary expert in any way, shape or form.  Truth is, I have some dyslexic tendencies and reading was never my strongest subject.  So, I know this quote from Willy Wonka saying it to Charlie in the movie; however, it is originally from Shakespeare's work The Merchant of Venice.  The word 'weary' was actually 'naughty' in the original quote.

Ok, now that we've studied some literature, let's get back to the piece I made for the Progressive Challenge over at Outlawz Challenges.  Every month we are given a digi to use and this month our digi is generously donated by Laurian.

(Ok, I hear you asking, "How do I get a free digi to play?"  Oh, it's easy; follow this link and join Outlawz.  Then join the progressive challenge.  While you're over at Outlawz, you'll notice several other challenges to play!)  Back to the piece now.....

I started by printing the image and sentiment on cardstock.  I then sponged my background with Slate, Glacier and Honey Inks.  The image was done in watercolor pencils.

Material List:
Image from Laurian
Sentiment from Shakespeare (or Willie Wonka, hee hee) typed in Bodoni 72 Smallcaps
CTMH Cardstock/Paper:  Daisy White,  Kraft, Urban
CTMH Inks:  Slate, Honey, Glacier
CTMH Twine (retired)

Thanks for coming by today!  Not much longer until the new products from CTMH are revealed!  August 1 the new Idea Book is released and I'm so excited to share projects using the new products.  Stay tuned.........

Cowgirl Lantern

Yee haw, it's Cut It Up's 100th Challenge and what better way to celebrate than a HUGE Anything Goes Challenge?!  I say HUGE because the Design Team has more than doubled for this amazing party.  Yep, there are several DT members from the past joining us; that makes for some fun inspiration!  Wait, there's more!!  Not only has the DT grown, the prizes have multiplied like crazy!!  Yay, there are more sponsors for this event than you can imagine and that means lots of fun prizes!  You've got to see this to believe it!

My project is a Cowgirl Lantern.
This is a western take on the very popular fairy lanterns.  We will be having a special horsey camp-out here this summer and I thought this would be a fun project for the girls while they are resting from their horse riding/responsibilities.

I started by sponging the inside of an old pickle jar with Gesso.  I added some Gesso to black acrylic paint to paint the lid a dark grey color.

While that was drying, I went into Cricut Design Space.  I cut that sweet cowgirl from Doohickey Designs found at Digi Playground and the stars and horses from the Old West Cartridge.

Once the jar was dry, I added some Spanish Moss to the bottom with a glue gun and adhered the cuts to the inside of the jar.

Next, I used a hammer and nail to poke two holes in the lid for the handle.  I inserted craft wire into the holes and bent them.  Washi tape holds them in place.

All that is left is inserting a battery operated tea light!  How fun and easy is this?

I decided the jar needed a little canvas ribbon and some twine.

I think the girls are going to love this project.  Let's just hope they turn off these lanterns and get some sleep that evening!

Material List

Old Jar
Craft Wire or coat hanger
White Gesso or Acrylic paint
Black or Grey paint for lid
Spanish Moss
Tea Light
Canvas Ribbon
Cuts from Old West, Design Space and Doohikey Designs from Digi Playground

Thanks for visiting.  Now it's time for you to check out the amazing projects from the team and add your project for a chance to win some fun prizes!

Vintage Birthday Car

Today's CAS card highlights the CTMH Stamp of the Month from June.  This is such a cute stamp set for cards, vacation layouts, and other projects.  I have to say, I love the Stamp of the Month because they are only $5.00 with the purchase of $50.  Can't go wrong with that deal!

This was a simple card.  I typed the sentiments into my word program and printed it on Warsau Cardstock.  (NOTE:  No Design Space today.....shocking for me, I know...and it's a CAS card.  I better take my temperature!  Ok, back to the card.)  Then I cut them (the card front and insert) to size and stamped the car with VersaMark ink.  I then heat embossed using PearLustre Hematite Embossing Powder.

I finished it up by sponging some Flaxen ink and adding a piece of Kraft cardstock for the background layer to complete my vintage sort of look.  On the inside I stamped the little road sign with Slate ink and again sponged some ink around the edges.  The arrow tape (the arrow tape used here is discontinued, but a similar one is available) just seemed to add to the theme for me.

My vintage car is driving off to the following challenges:
Outlawz Twisted Thursday:  One for the Guys
Pile It On:  It Moves Me:  Vehicles
TTCRD:  Anything Goes

Thanks for dropping by; it's always great to have visitors!  Please feel free to check out my other posts/pages.
