Comic Strip Animals

The Digi Choosday Team has a challenge to make projects using 2 images together and for Family/Friends.  Of course, it's always Anything Goes for all of your entries; so come join us for a chance to win some Polkadoodles digis!

Being the overachiever I am, hahahaha, I decided to combine 4 different images with a sentiment from Polkadoodles Too Cute.  My goal was to put it into a comic strip setting with the animals sort of 'escaping' the setting!  (I saw this idea on Sandy Allnock's blog and was enamored with the idea.  She has a template there, but I decided to create my own to fit the animals.)  This was so fun, I can't wait to try this again with some different images!

The animals were all colored with Copic markers.  Once the coloring was done, I masked them out and the backgrounds were done by sponging inks over the different squares.

Now, I'll admit, those silly monkeys really seem to be taunting that poor little elephant!  I guess, he really needs to hang in there with friends like them!

Girl with Balloon

Today, I'm excited to be a guest designer over at  TTCRD!  I admit, I play there every week; so, I'm very happy to share some inspiration alongside this talented team!

I have the opportunity to design using Girl with Balloon from Stamp On It!  Stamp On It has a HUGE variety of stamps and it wasn't easy choosing!  I saw this little cutie and it made me think of the late Victorian Era meets American Folk Art!  Her determined face just grabbed my heart immediately!

I started in Cricut Design Space and printed her onto a tag cut from Polkadoodles Winnie in Wonderland which has a vintage feel.  I also added 5 more balloons from Winnie Special Moments.  Finally, I chose a birthday sentiment and typed it in American Typewriter font.   I chose to Copic color her in YR: 18, 15, 12 with a highlight of YR21.  The brown balloons are in my favorite Earth tones of E: 35, 33, and 31.

I layered the colored cut on top of two more tag cuts from Belle Papillon embellishing the largest with a Wide Eyelet from We R Memory Keepers and some baker's twine from my stash.  The card is finished off with some flower petals, lace, and a bow from stash.

This little birthday sweetie is off to the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments:  Birthday Sentiment
Craft-Dee BowZ:  AG w/a handmade bow
Scrap from your Heart:  Use Dies (Tags are all die cuts)
Sweet Stampers:  Birthday
Splashy Mix:  Orange color/ flowers from MoodBoard; Mixed media includes:  lace, metal, twine, copic, ink, wood in flower, paper, etc

Butterflies bugs

The new theme for the Cut It Up challenge is Butterflies or Bugs!  Create any type of project, but don't forget your die cuts!!

This amazing earthy image is a cut from Dreaming Tree called Dragonfly Sculpture.  I decided to use it in my faith journal instead of a sculpture.  I really enjoy looking for all the possible uses for every cut; it really adds to the versatility!

I cut the different layers and inked them.  The wings were covered with Deco Foil to give them that iridescent shine.  I adhered the image into my book after spongeing ink over the page.  I added my verse and a little dragonfly silhouette left over from the cut.

This is off to the following challenges/pages:
2 Crafty Critter Crazies:  AG with a critter
TTCRD:  AG
Crafter's Castle:  Spring and or distressed

Happiness is a BIG Cocoa and a Silly Pic!

Happiness is a BIG Cocoa and a Silly Pic!

So, who remembers those wonderful books from the '70's, "Happiness is..."?  I loved those especially if they involved the Peanuts characters.  When I saw this little chick with that huge cup of goodness and quote, it really took me back!

Happiness is the new optional theme over at Path of Positivity!  Now, happiness can mean so many different things to people; what makes you happy?  Obviously, for many little girls, being silly is the greatest form of happiness!  What better way to show this than that fun digi, Mini Bird Take Out Coffee, from Limited Runs.

This is a page for my little grand-girl's inspiration book.  I'm taking ideas, words, and quotes and adding her pictures for a special book for her.  I started with this fun pic and altered it in PhotoScape.  I made it Bl/wh and then added a frame.  I printed and cut it out with decor edge scissors.  Using a little paint brush, I used CTMH ink to color parts of the photo.

This was a great way to use the photo I wanted, but change the colors to go with my layout!

The coffee cup cut is from CTMH Artistry with the sleeve cut from a tag from Polkadoodles as well as the heart.  The little bird is colored with Copic Markers and the cup is decorated with Liquid Pearls and Recollections Chunky Glitter pieces in Copper Brown.  The background is retired paper from CTMH.  I picked up the twine mesh one day at the $ store and found it to be a fun addition!

Silly happiness is off to the following challenges:

Damask and Boys

It's time for new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and our optional twist is to use Damask or Fleur de lis in your design!

I started with this delightful image, Boy with Boat, from Morgan's Artworld.  I love this era of art and thought this would make the perfect journal with coffee stained paper inside!

Now, I'll admit, this one took me a while to color.  It was a weekend project, but great fun and a real challenge.  I was pulling all sorts of Copic colors and using glazing techniques, strange color combos, and just had fun!

The damask paper from DCWV covers cereal box panels.  I used washi tape on the spine for decor as well as twine to hold my paper in place.  The typed paper is retired from CTMH.  I made the journal tag as a print and cut in Design Space and embellished with some eyelets from We R Memory Keepers.

Which do you like:  damask or fleur de lis?  Come share with us at Twisted Thursday!

Flowers and Lace

The Digi Choosday Team is sharing projects featuring flowers and lace.  Of course, it's always Anything Goes for all of your entries; so come join us for a chance to win some Polkadoodles digis!

I chose to use flower digis from Lavender Tea for my country style card!  I started by printing them onto a piece of watercolor paper and printing the tag while I was at the printer!  I pulled a piece of Distressed Wood printable paper from my "already printed stash" since I keep this printed at all times!  Love this paper!

I colored these whimsical flowers and leaves with Inktense Watercolor Pencils.  I added some brown ink to the wood and adhered some burlap ribbon and lace.  Three little gems finish off this rustic, yet feminine, card!
