Pony Love

It's time for new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and our optional twist is Corners, Borders, or Framing! 

This delightful image is one I couldn't resist purchasing from Hetty Clare.  We are sponsored with images, but this was just right up my alley and I had to have it!  The image is called Pony Love...and rightfully so, don't you think?

I framed out the image with Distressed Wood paper from Polkadoodles and the fence corners are cut in Design Space using Picket Fence from the Wrap it Up Cartridge.

The image is Copic colored and inked around the edges with CTMH Distress inks in Sweet Leaf and Sky.

It's All About Green!

The Digi Choosday Team is sharing Green projects this week to get ready for St. Patrick's Day.  Of course, it's always Anything Goes for all of your entries; so come join us for a chance to win some Polkadoodles digis!  

I chose to use Ruby Raindrop Umbrella; but instead of raining raindrops, I altered it a bit to rain lucky shamrocks made from flowers in the Work & Play 12.  I printed the clovers/shamrocks in greens when I printed the digi.  The shamrock falling into her hand is cut from vinyl, so it has a shiny quality that doesn't really show in the photo.

I copic colored the image and added a sentiment from Helga Hippo Sentiments.  The original says, "Sprinkling a little love your way."  I simply changed the Love to Luck to fit my theme!  I found a font I liked and colored it in with a black marker.  

The background paper pattern is from Winnie Special Moments.  That is some beautiful paper!  I added a bit of blue/green lace.   

I love digital images and fonts since I can alter them so easily without all the masking of traditional stamps!  It makes personalizing for any occasion easy!

Clovers

The new theme for the Cut It Up challenge is about Clovers!  Create a project with a clover and don't forget your die cuts!!    

I started by printing the digi, You're My Lucky Charm, onto a Clover from Cricut Thought & Phrases - Good Times and cut it in Design Space.  I Copic colored that adorable guy and added a little silver gel pen to the buckle and a few dots of white gel pen to his eyes.  

 The shamrock embellishment was cut from Cricut Saint Patrick's Day Icons and a gem tops it off!

Love thinking of you!

As we continue down the Path of Positivity, we are pondering Love this month and the idea is to make a project to show someone love.  

For this card I chose to show someone I'm thinking about them...no particular reason.  It's like the old Stevie Wonder song, "Just Called to Say I Love You!"  No holiday, no occasion, no tragedy, just want you know I'm thinking of you.  Sometimes our greatest acts of love are those everyday things we do for those around us.  We take them for granted until the day it isn't done, said, heard, etc.

I chose to use this free image, Thinking of You, from Beccy's Place with an embossed piece of pink cardstock for a simple, yet lovely, card.  I Copic colored the rose and added some black cardstock and three black gems.

Cut It Up Blog Hop

We are so excited to share some cards we recently sent to our sponsors!  We all chose 1 or 2 sponsors and we created cards for them!  I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to share our appreciation with two sponsors:  A Day for Daisies and Kitten Scraps!  Both of these sponsors are such a joy and always inspire me to create something fun and exciting!

My first card was sent to Tammy at A Day for Daisies.  Tammy is such a talented designer and has a beautiful variety of digis!  Personally, I'm always delighted when I get to work with her images; there is so much grace and beauty in her designs which makes them perfect for cards, tags, canvases, journaling, etc.  Here are just a couple of projects I have done using her lovely images:  Old Film Stars and Bookmark.  

Finger Paint from A Day for Daisies is adorable and I thought it would make the perfect thank you combined with the cut Painting Palette and Brushes from the Cricut Cartridge Recess. I colored this delightful little artist with Copics and tied up the card with some embroidery floss and topped it with the palette die.  The inside has an easel or Art Stand from Cricut Family Album printed beneath the sentiment from Cricut Sweet Dreams, Phrases and Sentiments!   

My second card was sent out to Nathalie over at Kitten Scraps.  Nathalie has such a knack for designing incredible paper collections!  I have used her papers, ephemera, journal cards, etc for digital scrapbook pages and then turned around and used the same kits for gift bags, cards, journals, and tags.  There is a huge variety in her store from really cute holiday images/paper to fun learning images for school/teaching.  

The card below is made using paper, a journal card, and a tag from the Love U 2 Pieces Bundle.  My die cut is the heart tag from KittenScraps.  If you would like to see what I mean about variety, check out this post where I made other goodies from the same bundle: Pop KittenScraps.  I'm sure you'll agree, there's a lot of variety in that bundle!

Say it with Flowers!

It's time for new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and our optional twist is Say it with Flowers! 

In this lovely image from Hetty Clare, Flower Girl is carrying and wearing lots of beautiful flowers.  I printed (in Design Space) her onto a shape called Flourish from the cartridge French Manor.  I cut that and a 2nd shape in green to back her.  I Copic colored this beauty and added a few bits with glitter gel pens.  

I have backed this digi with a variety of floral papers from Polkadoodles.  I put them all together with a couple of eyelets.  I was inspired by the challenge over at The Outlawz Crash Your Stash!  

I inked around the edges with CTMH Distress Inks in Blossom and Pear and tied it all up with some pink embroidery floss from my stash!

Spring into Journaling!

The Digi Choosday Team is sharing their ideas on the theme:  Jump into Spring.  Of course, it's always Anything Goes for all of your entries; so come join us for a chance to win some Polkadoodles digis!  

The image of Winnie jumping Through the Looking Glass is just too perfect to convey my journal message of going from winter (the past) to spring (future)!  You can find this image and sentiment in the Winnie in Wonderland Collection.  

I started by printing the left side of the page with paper from Winnie Winterland Paper Heaven 1 and the right side with paper from Winnie in Wonderland Paper Heaven 6.  I then put my focal image on top of that and printed off the page.  

I went into Cricut Design Space to print/cut my sentiment and cut a mask of my focal image.  I placed the mask over the image and sponged ink over the the blue side and lightened the blues going into the floral side of the page.  

I then used Glass Bead Glitter Gel and a homemade snowflake stencil on the "winter" side of the page.  I removed the mask and Copic colored the image.  Next, I "colored over" all the shattered glass with a glue pen and let that dry.  Once the glue was dry, I placed a sheet of Deco Foil over it and rubbed it gently.  The foil sticks where the glue is!  

I finished it with a small bow at her waist, a gem on her flower, and the sentiment.

Pure Imagination

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is my all time favorite movie!  I absolutely loved Gene Wilder's performance as Willy Wonka.  His wit and sarcasm were absolutely incredible.  

I had such a blast journaling this page.  The Wonka image I found on the internet and actually tried very hard to find the illustrator.  I contacted several people and no one claimed the image.  The Wonka Bar Wrappers were in my stash and I'm not sure where they came from either.

Love Songs

The new theme for the Cut It Up challenge will have you singing and sentimental!  Create inspired by your favorite Love Song!  Don't forget your die cuts!!    

I have always been inspired by this love song so perfect for my relationship with Kelly:  What Are you Still Doin' Here?  This boy/guy/man has truly been my greatest blessing and I do wonder sometimes why in the world he has stayed with me!

We've known each other since we were 12 years old and it's been an adventure with lots of "turns in the road"~ well what would you call it when a computer geek and a classically trained oboist end up in the country with a bunch of horses~ that was a major turn!  

One blog post could never begin to explain what we have experienced in the past 43 years of knowing one another and 33 years of marriage.  We've pulled some real stunts (eloping was our best), created some great memories, and built a beautiful family!  As the song says, our lives have been full of mistakes and blessings!

Alright, enough reminiscing, onto this journal page!

I started by printing the digi, Careful!, made into a silhouette digi cut in Design Space.  I then cut the silhouette out of black vinyl and masking tape.  

I masked off the image and sponge-inked over the page in the colors listed below.  I then stenciled and stamped using the same colors.  

Once that was done, I stenciled stars using paint.  Now, I could remove the mask.  After the paint dried, I stuck on the vinyl silhouette, printed sentiment (lyrics), and silver stars.  I glued a little denim and lace to the edge.

Lucky in Love!

As we continue down the Path of Positivity, we are pondering Love this month and the idea is to make a project to show someone love.  

Love is an interesting notion as there are so many kinds of love.  The greek language has at least 4 words for love: storge, philia, eros, and agape.  I understand how we can have that many if not more.  Think of how many times you use the word love in a day.

Here is an example of my day:
Feed horses, "Aww, Mommy loves you!!"
Feed dog, "Love you, Cutie!"
Husband leaves for work, "Love you, have a good day.  Be careful on the roads!"
Son calls, "Love you, Sweetie!"
Sit at the computer and type, 'Oooh, love that paper you used on that card!"
Have lunch, "Oh, man, I love this hamburger!"
Pick up grand girl from pre-school, "Hi Baby, Nana loves you!"
Sit down for some tv, "I've always loved that old movie."

You get the idea, we use the word all day never with the same meaning.  Even toward the same person, the word love can be said to convey different feelings in different situations.

So, no matter what sort of love you want to convey, share it with us in a project of any kind over at Path of Positivity!  We'd cherish the chance to share in your love!

I chose to use this lovely image, Wedded Bliss, from Beccy's Place for a card suitable for any loving occasion!  

The paper is from Whimsy and has the stars printed on it! I put it into Cricut Design Space and printed the horseshoe directly on the paper. Then I added two straight lines to be the string holding the shoe. I printed all that off as one image, copic colored the horseshoe/flower image, and used a white gel pen for the baby's breath flowers. 

Next, I distressed the edges and adhered it to a black card base. Finally, I put a gem on the card when done to act as the nailhead. Of course, for the photo, I added a real horseshoe because everyone has an old shoe laying around their craft room, right? hahaha

Courage in Bible Journaling

Today I worked on some Bible Journaling with this beautiful stamp from Duff's Designs (retired). 

  Now I've done some faith journaling in another book, but decided to get a bible just for art journaling.  I don't know why it was so hard for me to actually put medium to Bible page in the past, but it was!  I guess I had those fears of needing it to be perfect if it goes in a Bible, but then I started thinking about all the music I have studied.  The more I study and practice a piece, the more marks there are in the music.  

Ok, why shouldn't my Bible be the same way?  If I'm truly trying to study and understand, maybe there should be "marks" in my Bible!  If those marks are art, stamping, colors, written ideas, or any other creative medium, it must be fine if it's bringing meaning to me.  And guess what, God already knows it isn't going to be perfect.  So, I asked myself, "What's holding you back?  Get to it if this is what you want to do!"

Anyway,  about this page...

I love this stamp and thought the sentiment was perfect with this verse 

I Chronicles 28:20.  "Be strong and courageous, and do the work."  Yeah, that works for me!  The sentiment about strength seemed to sum it all up for me:

I started by page prepping with Liquitex Gel Medium.  I used 2 coats on the side I was coloring.  I stamped the image with CTMH Cocoa Pigment ink.  I used watercolors to fill in this image.  (I recently purchased a "card" of Daniel Smiths Water colors from Blicks to try out and they are wonderful!  This is a great way to try them out and see if you like them before investing a lot of money.  You also get to try a lot of colors!)   I stamped the sentiment with Memento Black and drew barbed wire around the corners and underneath with gel pens.  

The verse was highlighted with a CTMH Watercolor pencil.  

Nothing bled through and the wrinkling wasn't too bad either.  I did iron on very low heat after the prep and again when finished.  I would say the wrinkling was less than when I did not prep the page on my first entry.
