Creating an Overlay ~~ Musician's Style!

Caution:  There are
way too many music
references in this post!

Why do I always feel I need to re-write Bach (or re-invent the wheel)?  I loved Melanie's challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 to use an overlay.  A little scrappy history at this point:  I have followed Melanie for some time now.  She inspired my daughter to become a consultant which in turn keeps me busy burning through the paper!  My husband says, "Thanks, Melanie," as he looks around the messy house, paper scraps everywhere!  Anyway, back to the topic......

I looked at all the creative overlay choices but felt inspired to compose my own!

I started with a rectangle bass, oops -- meant base, from Joys of the Season cartridge where I also found the single and double eighth notes.  The treble clef is from Cursive 101.  I went to CCR and positioned the notes and clefs onto the rectangle and changed some of their sizes to make it a little more random.  I welded them in and this created the overlay!  I did need to glue in the little black pieces for the treble clefs.

I cut the big clef, shadow, and base from red, black and white card stocks.  This is the same clef from the overlay; I simply made it a little fatter.  I popped it off the card with 3-D tape from CTMH.  I ornamented with ribbon.

This really was fun creating the overlay from different cartridges.  I'm looking forward to trying this with some other motifs!  I might say there could be variations upon this theme!
