The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and our optional twist is to show us the first embellishment you ever used on a card! Wow, that's a tough one for those of us with poor memories! hahaha
I have used a digital stamp from our sponsor called Cobblestone Cottage from LeithSBDesigns Art Studio. I had such fun coloring this whimsical image! I pulled out all the stops and followed no coloring rules! I did a lot of mixing and glazing (if you follow Sandy Allnock, you'll know about this glazing stuff!) with my Copic markers. Glazing is how I got the effect on the roof.
The grass is a 'messy' technique I learned from Alyce over at Kit & Clowder. She calls is something else, but I can't remember .....
Speaking of remembering, I need to tell you what my first embellishment to use on a card was! I had to go back and look on my blog and it was.....a mocha gem from CTMH! I love those gems in my favorite brown/beige colors! Obviously, they are retired now (unless they've come back!), but I still have a few laying about!
Now, as for the sky, I chose to sort of block that in with ink and cheesecloth. I thought it would be fun for the playful scene!

Hey Katrina! What a fun card to fit a fun challenge! I actually do remember the first card I made back in 2000! My mom keeps it in a frame on her desk : ) You have colored this image perfectly and I love all of the techniques you have incorporated! Awesome job!

Wow, that is wonderful that she keeps it on her desk! How sweet is that!!
DeleteI Love Quirky Houses and this looks fab! Thanks for playing along with us at The Fairy and The Unicorn Challenge Lisa DT
ReplyDeleteWow your house with no holds barred colouring is superb!!! The first card I made I was 10 and it was for my Mum's 37th birthday..... every line mentioned the fact she was 37. At the time she looked horrified, but when she passed away I found it in a box of precious memories, so I guess she loved it after all.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing in our first challenge of the new decade, and good luck!

Oh, Lin, that is a fabulous story! Made me smile as I think of some of the cards I might have made and remember the ones my littles have made for me! ;)

I remember my first card made for my Mam actually before I really started making cards and I made it with strips of paper and buttons -found it when we emptied the bungalow when she died.

Oh, that is so wonderful that you found it in her treasures!
DeleteFabulous card, so quirky, and your colouring is amazing with all the techniques you've used. Can't remember much about my first card but know it was made from a kit I bought at a craft shop's January sale some 10 years ago! Thanks for joining us at the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge this month Claire DT
