As we continue along the way at Path of Positivity, we are Exploring the Fantastical. We are creating a project that touches on the world of fantasy, wonder, magic or whimsy.
Now a bunny standing in a garden doesn't look very magical or fantastical but...
This is my interpretation of the final scene of the Velveteen Rabbit. If you've not read this book, or if you haven't read it as an adult, you might want to check this one out. It is actually on the web for free here: https://digital.library.upenn.edu/women/williams/rabbit/rabbit.html
The original pictures from the book are there also. I remember them so well from my childhood.
This book is an amazing account of a boy who learns about what gives things value...or that is my idea of what the author is saying. I've always viewed this book as more of a philosophy book as well as a beautiful, magical children's story. Yes, this book is full of wonder and magic!

This page in my journal started with a printing the verse from the story and the bunny image from Beccy's Place onto mixed media paper. I then cut a mask of the bunny from Post-it Tape. After placing the mask down over the printed bunny, I started stamping with various colors and retired CTMH stamps. I have a quite a few and this was a great opportunity to bring them out of hiding!
I colored the bunny with watercolor pencils and painted over with water. I finished the page by inking around the edge to frame it out a bit and backed it with a black page for my journal.
This journal page is 6" x 6" and hole punched using the Cinch Binding System.

Love your journal page Katrina, all that stamping is awesome! The mix of colours and patterns is fabulous and I love the excerpt from the book. Great idea to frame the page with the "together" word flourish, that's a nice touch. Thanks for sharing the technique you used too, it's always interesting to read how people create things.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

I don't know this book, but the excerpt is just wonderful, then you make it even more wonderful with your art and the bunny. It should be framed, love it.
