Courage

Courage is the optional theme over at Path of Positivity! What does courage mean to you?

I'm going a little different direction with this post about courage as I'm tying it in with Halloween!  So, ready to meander down this winding path with me?

Consider all those children dressing up as fairy princesses, super heroes, cartoon characters, monsters, villains, animals, etc. to walk from house to house and retrieve their copious amounts of scrumptious candy!  The better the costume, the more fun...so the children think.  No child wants to throw the old ripped sheet over their head to be a ghost; they want a fancy "store bought" costume.  Do they think they will get better candy?  Do they think it will make a difference the day after Halloween?

Now, consider us adults; are we any different?  Some of us dress every day to be someone we are not.  We even act as someone we are not - all because we don't have the courage to be who we are.  Yes, it takes courage to be our "real selves" and not a super hero or fairy princess!  It takes less courage to be who society says we should be and fit the status quo!

I think for Halloween I will take a time out and be a tired, worn, middle-aged Nana who loves her family and strives to be the best she can be!  I will embrace the laugh lines, scrapes, scars, and grey hair that describe the life I've led!  I will show courage and simply be ME!  Maybe, if it works for Halloween, I'll continue to be that person every day!  Time will tell!
Who will you be?

This fun billboard card design is from Scribbles Designs.  It was a very easy make with gel pens and fun green yarn!  I layered with purple and orange papers onto a black card base perfect for Halloween!

Inhale Courage

Courage is the new optional theme over at Path of Positivity! What does courage mean to you?  I believe courage is shown every time we step outside of our comfort zone.  What might seem like a small step to my neighbor, might be a huge step for me!  Recently, we took a big step in adopting a GSD (German Shepherd Dog).  Now, this might not seem like the most courageous step one could take; but I'll tell you, it is a big undertaking!

This made me think of all the GSD's, Malinois, and Bloodhounds out there working to protect us on a daily basis with our local law and military.  I have seen some live demonstrations of what these dogs can do and it is amazing how they and their handlers can work together.

This beautiful shepherd digi is part of the Paw Prints Digital Stamps from Beccy's Place.  I colored him up with Copic Markers and combined him with paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles and some embossed Kraft paper.  A little twine pulls it all together.

I plan to send a few of these cards out to our local Sheriff's Dept K9 and their human officers with a gift card to a local ice cream shop who gives out Pup Cups!  That way, the pups can treat their humans to a treat while they indulge, also!  ;)

My card is off to these challenges:

2 Crafty Critter Crazies:  AG with a Critter
Crafty Cardmakers:  Add a critter

5 Minute Friday Video: Organize Markers

Here's the last video in my 5 Minute Friday September Series.  However, I have a disclaimer...it's almost 7 minutes long!  Sorry about that!  But, the extra time is worth this inexpensive way to store markers!  This is a quick, easy way to make some marker storage.  You can custom make marker tower(s) to fit your work space!  Build them wider, taller, or with bigger/smaller tubes!  It's up to you!

The pictures above and below were a gift for my daughter!  I used designer papers from CTMH; the papers are all long retired now!

Material List:  PVC pipe, hot glue, paper of choice, double sided tape and glue

Check out the video below for instructions on how to make this marker tower!

My tower is off to the following challenges:

Curious about Books!

Curiosity is the new optional theme over at Path of Positivity!  What makes you curious?  What can we do to inspire curiosity in others?

I chose to create with this curious little BugBooksitter as she looks just like the little one who will be using this bookmark!  I also love that her little legs can hang over the page!

We love books in our family and when we are curious we reach for a book, so this image is perfect for the curiosity that runs in our family!

I have combined her with this free digital paper from SDD and you can find it HERE!
