Be Strong and Think Pink!

We have a "Think Pink" theme going on over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge this week.  We are sponsored by Digi Stamps 4 Joy where I found this beautiful Flamingo Pair image.  I thought about how beautiful the bird is with its pink feathers, how strong it appears, and how all that beauty is supported by those long, thin legs.

This made me think how this would be the perfect image for this challenge.  I layered the image over a Cricut Cut from the new CTMH Flower Market Cartridge.  It's like her neck is making the "R".

Remember, over at Twisted Thursday the twist is always optional, so feel free to share whatever is on your workspace this week!  We'd love to see it!

For those who are battling any sort of plight:  May you be blessed with strength and peace as you bravely move through with grace.

Lucky Horseshoe

We are now at the midway for the Path of Positivity Challenge and I'm still pondering luck which is the theme this month.  Now, I'd like to say I've had an epiphany, but alas........ I have NOT!  I'm still not sure how I feel about this word and its meaning.  I've not made heads or tails out of it.  I've made wishes on lucky stars, but nothing!  I've turned all the horseshoes open end up, but no more ideas have come to me.

Hey, wait!  Lucky symbols.....yes, that's what I can add to my luck discussion!  Coin tosses, horseshoes hanging over doors, lucky charms and stars, rabbit's feet, four leaf clovers, finding a penny face up, the number 7, etc.  If you are interested in reading about lucky symbols, you might want to check out this site:  https://exemplore.com/misc/goodlucksigns   They had some very interesting stories about different symbols.

For my project I chose the Imagine That! Digi Stamp Christmas Horseshoe.  What could be luckier than a handsome horse in a horseshoe?

Material List:
Christmas Horseshoe Digi from Imagine That! Digi Stamp
Copic Markers
Gold Gel Pen
Gold Thread
CTMH Cardstock:  Daisy White, Fern, Ruby, Flaxen

Today is a special day; it's my sister's birthday.  I won't say how old she is, but I will say it's one of the milestones!  I fell in love with the image from Bugaboo a while back and have made a few cards with her.  I couldn't resist using her again for this card since I used to call my younger sister 'my little flowering child'!  I'm not sure why I called her that, but I did.  I actually had a little song I sang to her in the morning,,,,,but that's another story and there won't be a YouTube Video about that!  haha

Material List:
Bugaboo Image:  Girlz - Flowers
Copic Markers
CTMH Cardstock:  White Daisy, Canary, Saddle, Lagoon, Hollyhock
Cricut Cartridges:  CTMH Artiste, Cupcake Wrappers (for the wrap around daisy)

K is for.......?

It's time for the Name Game over at Cut It Up!  So, this is how the game works:  Take the letter of your first name and use something on your that begins with the same letter.  For example, if your name is Sinbad, you might use sand, sunflowers, or sparkles on your project.  If your name is Inga, you might use ink, indigo, or ice cream.   You get the idea!  Remember, you must use a die cut on your project.

First off, my name is Katrina.....let's see, that means I have to come up with k words.  Hmm.....all righty then.  Who came up with this challenge anyway?    ......Oh yeah, this was my idea!

I started with an image from Bugaboo and cut him in Cricut Design Space.  Isn't that kid cute!  While I was over there, I also cut my cactus from the new CTMH Flower Market Cartridge and a rope from Old West.

My digi was colored with copics and the cactus inked.  I used a piece of twine and glued it over the rope cut and tied it off in a knot.

I inked up the background and adhered the pieces.  One cactus and my cowboy's head were adhered with 3-D tape.  I adhered the front panel to Kraft cardstock and then all of that to a card base.

So, did you catch my 3 k-words?  Yep, kid, knot, and Kraft; although I wanted to just change the spelling and use kowboy, kaktus, and kolt! hahaha  Now it's time for you to think about the first letter of your name and what you have in your kraft craft room.

Material List
Bugaboo Cowboy - Lasso
Copic Markers
CTMH Cardstock:  Kraft, Daisy White, Pear
CTMH Inks:  Fern, Olive, Chocolate, Sunset
Darice Twine
CTMH Cartridges:  Flower Market, Artiste (font)
Cricut Cartridge:  Old West (Lasso under the twine)

My cowboy is off to lasso the following challenges:

Spinning in Circles..... with Frogs, Cricuts and Flies....Oh my!

The theme over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday is Spinning in Circles.  Now, I realize the theme is to include circles, but I couldn't help making my circle into a spinner so my fly could literally spin in circles!

Ok, I started by importing that cute frog from DigiStamps4Joy into Cricut Design Space.  The front is in 2 different layers as seen below.

I made my spinner out of circles cut from Craft Foam.  I simply cut the circles, placed a piece of twine between them and glued them together with a glue gun.  I adhered a little circle cut from the backing of glue dots to make the spinner really slick!  Then I pierced into the middle with a piercing tool.  I stuck a brad through the hole I had pierced into my spinner.

I then went to the top panel of the card and punched a hole where the spinner would go.  I stuck the brad through that hole and opened the tines.  Then I adhered the paper circle/fly to my spinner!  Simply wrap the twine around the spinner and pull!

I got this idea from a video by Sandy Allnock who saw a video by Connie Stewart.  Sandy had altered Connie's directions and then I altered Sandy's to fit what I had in my craft room!

So, here's my video of the little spinning fly!

My little frog is hopping over to:

Love, Luck, & Friendship

Feeling Lucky?  Luck is the theme we are pondering over at Path of Positivity this month and we'd love to see what you think of when you think about luck.

Now, I have to say this is a difficult theme for me.  I do believe in luck when I consider random draws, lotteries, cake walks, Bingo and other such games, etc.  I also believe there is a certain luck in timing such as selling a house, being at the right place at the right time, etc.  Then I wonder, is it luck or a higher power answering prayer or simply taking us where we are intended to be?

That leads me to ponder blessings versus luck......  When people say someone is blessed to have XYZ, it makes me wonder why someone else isn't so blessed.  So, is is truly a blessing or is it luck?  I know I have been "blessed" with many things I'm sure someone else feels they also deserve, and they most likely do!  So why me instead of them?

Ok, I must ponder this further before I can "make heads or tails of this" word luck.  More on the 19th, but I'm not promising I'll have any more answers or ideas then!

However, one last thought:  one person's good luck is another person's bad luck!  For example, when I was a kid I thought tons of snow was the luckiest day ever.....NO SCHOOL!  My dad didn't feel that was a very lucky day since he had to get out in the snow for work.

So, that leads me to this wonderful image from Limited Runs!  I started with the image and colored it with Copics.  I cut a mask and sponged the sky.  I drew over some of the snow lines with a Uniball white pen and then went over them with a glitter pen to add sparkle.  I added the stamped LOVE on the sign.

Material List:

Image:  Limited Runs Snow House Set
Copic Markers
CTMH Cardstock:  White Daisy, Sapphire
Uniball White Pen
Studio G Glitter Glue

PATCH Teaching Tool

Back to school!  Well, actually, here at PATCH we've been in session all summer!  Ok, let me explain.....  I have a therapeutic horsemanship program here at our barn.  We teach kiddos with different learning abilities about horses ~ all about horses!  They have to learn horse care (feeding, watering, health, cleaning stalls, grooming horses, etc) as well as tacking, riding, and in-hand showmanship.

At the beginning of October we have our big show where we show off what they have learned in all areas.  This year the judge will have the option to ask questions about parts and tacking (how to put on the saddle, pad, headstall/bridle, girth/cinch, etc).

I teach tacking at the lessons, but I thought it would be helpful if they could practice at home.  So, I made them all paper horses that would stand and tack to put on the horses.

I used replaceable glue to put on the forelocks, manes and tails so they could remove/replace them and learn the names.  Once it dries, this glue works like a post-it note!
Next I made a folder using a couple of pieces of 8 x 10 inch cardstock pieces and gluing a strip on the right hand side for the horse to "live in" and an envelope for the left hand side to act as the tack box.
The kids seemed to enjoy this activity at the lessons; hopefully they will practice at home!

The horse and parts are all from Old West Cartridge or pieces I altered from those parts like the girth/cinch and saddle blanket.

Ok, so it's not your traditional back to school, but I thought it would be fun to share!

Material List
CTMH Cardstock:  Fundamental, Champagne, Colonial White, Saddle, Cashmere, Chocolate

Watercolor Bunny!

Water color is the challenge theme over at Cut It Up and I couldn't be happier since I did a Storybook Coloring Class with Sandy Allnock awhile back using watercolor pencils!  Since this is all about water, I'll come clean and admit I did not stamp this project.  It was stamped for me and I colored the images in class.  Then I put it all together with dies for this project.

That class was so much fun.  I would recommend her classes to anyone wanting to learn more in a stress free environment.  She spends the class time giving helpful suggestions while you work on your painting, coloring, etc.  I did not walk away with finished projects, but I did come away with finished mini canvases, lots of ideas, and a great memory!

I designed my card in Design Space cutting my card front and the banner with a rectangle cut in each; then I cut the teapot.  I used a blade to hand cut the rectangle in a card base.

I ran the card front through my embossing machine and then adhered it to the card base.  I glued the banner and teapot to the front.  Lastly, the mini canvas was adhered to the inside of the card.

Material List:
Memory Box Clear Stamps ~ Tea Time Bunny
CTMH Cardstock/Paper:  Pear, Happy (retired), Daisy White, Glacier
CTMH Cricut Cartridges:  Flower Market- teapot, Artbooking- banner
