Having some fun with Christmas cards! My son-in-law loves Dungeons and Dragons and such things; so having seen a card made by Andrea from SheepSki Designs, I was inspired to make this in Christmas colors and the popular sentiment!

This delightful image is from FabrikaFantasy. I'll be the first to admit, I was not much into Fantasy coloring. However, I've become somewhat addicted to these whimsical images. I find them challenging my skills and creativity and that is great fun for me! It's also fun because there really are no rules in fantasy; I can just do what strikes me at the moment!

It's time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the optional twist is: Rounded Corners. Since we're rounding the corner to a new year, I couldn't resist the play on words here! This is a great addition to my 2020 art journal...can't wait to start a new 2021 journal; 2020 has gone on long enough! ;)

Now, if you check out the material list below, you'll find Disposable Shop Towel. Yes, well, let me explain that one! A month or so ago, we ran out of paper towels and I went out to the garage to get some shop towels to clean up my crafting mat. Well today, as I was putting together my journal page I saw a piece of a shop towel, grabbed it because it was the perfect color and texture, and then figured out it wasn't paper! ;) Well, I decided I liked it anyway! I took it over to my paper cutter, rounded the corners and glued it onto the page! Why not?! Anything on my craft table is up for grabs!

As we continue through the month at Path of Positivity, we are rejoicing! Grab a cup of coffee, tea, cocoa as I take you through my exploration of this word...REJOICE!
Rejoice...we hear it in the old Christmas carols, we read it in the Bible, and yet I seldom really think about what it means! For me my first thought when I hear the word 'rejoice' is the carol I talked about in this post at the beginning of the month. But what does the word rejoice really mean?
I challenged myself to think about the origin of this French word. Here is what I found: Middle English (in the sense ‘cause joy to’): from Old Frenchrejoiss-, lengthened stem ofrejoir, fromre-(expressing intensive force) +joir‘experience joy’.
Interesting! Now, my next thought is this: What is the difference between joy and happiness? Off to find an origin/definition for happy.
Happy: Middle English (in the sense ‘lucky’): from the nounhap1+-y1.
Definition:feeling or showing pleasure or contentment * fortunate and convenient * INFORMAL inclined to use a specified thing excessively or at random.
Now this is where it got interesting for me! There really is a huge difference between feeling joy and happiness even though I often interchange these words quite freely!
I found the comparison of these words on Diffen fascinating as I researched and pondered these feelings/words. It seems the difference I see over and over is happiness is temporary and based on outward influences, whereas joy is lasting and comes from peace and inward circumstances.
I saw this quote from J.D. Salinger, the author of Catcher in the Rye, "The fact is always obvious much too late, but the most singular difference between happiness and joy is that happiness is a solid and joy a liquid."
Now, how do I apply this to my life right now?
How do I rejoice when life seems so difficult currently? Maybe through prayer/meditation of acceptance and giving thanks for what I do have instead of spending time pondering what I am missing. These difficult times will not last forever and in that I find comfort and joy!
Wishing you all great joy during this holiday season!

It's time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the optional twist is: Peppermints.
Now this little sweetie, Flower Elf, is really not intended for Christmas, but I thought she was so cute she could easily be a Christmas Sprite sort of elf in a magical forest where it can snow and be summer at the same time! Wouldn't that be fun!! Here in this magical land, the bees pollenate peppermint flowers and these special bees are green and red. The little elves tend to the peppermint plants with great care! I can only imagine the wonderful fragrance in this fantastical place!
