Pot of Gold is HERE at Twisted Thursday!

It's here!  The Twisted Thursday Pot of Gold is starting NOW!

We have several sponsors this month!

Be sure to visit

The Outlawz Twisted Thursday for all the details!

Now, lets talk about our first challenge of the month!  Our first optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge is Metallic!  Now, I can hear some of you saying, "I don't have any fancy metallics in my stash.  I can't play along with this!"  Ah, but you can since we are Anything Goes and also, if you want to follow the challenge I bet you do have something metallic!

My card features the Limited Runs Sports Car Digi.  I colored it with Copics and backed it with a Cricut word cut.  I simply placed aluminum foil behind it to give the letters shine!  There's the metallic!  I also put some metallic tape along the bottom.

So, no excuses my friends!  Raid the kitchen cupboard and find those metallics perfect for your project!

My car is driving off to the following challenges:
Lemon Shortbread:  AG
TTCRD:  AG
Always Fun Challenges:  AG

Purse Notebook!

It's Anything Goes at Cut It Up for this challenge! That's right; you only need to include a die cut to have a chance at the great prize from Ink on 3 and Heartfelt Creations!

I was so pleased to work with the Pansy Tea SVG Kit from Ink on 3!  It includes the cut files for this Gift Card purse card, a 3-D Teapot, and a 3-D cup!  I chose to make the Purse into a Notebook (for my Grand-girl's Easter) by simple stitching in some paper cut from the insert included in the file.  (See the photo below.)

These amazing black and white paper designs are from the Fairy Wishes Digi Paper Pack also from Ink on 3.   I love these papers in Black and White for this project.  They are great the way they are or you can color them.  I left them so my little sweetie could color them herself!

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.

My notepad purse is off to the following challenges:
C.R.A.F.T. Challenges:  Alien or Fantasy
Stamp Garden Challenge:  Girly
Die Cuttin' Divas:  Anything but a card

Thanks for stopping by!  Make yourself at home and feel free to peruse other posts/pages, leave a comment, and/or check out my Pinterest and YouTube Channel.

This digi is Be A Fluffy Unicorn.  He is colored with Copics and gel pens.  The colorful swags are cut from the Scenic Landscape Cutting dies.  The bright yellow was run through a confetti embossing folder because...well,,,,every unicorn deserves confetti!

Planting Flowers!

It's Tuesday and time for a Digi Choosday Challenge!  We are sharing flowers and or Mother's Day Creations!  Now, for all my US friends, I realize we have a few months before it's time for that.  However, over in the UK it is celebrated on March 11th!

Our Challenges are always Anything Goes for all of your wonderful entries!

I started with the gorgeous blooms in Work & Play 12 Blooms Bundle Kit.  I did some copying, pasting, welding, etc in design space to come up with this pull out card.  The flower pot cut is from Cricut April Showers and the border along the top is from Artiste.

Here is how it ended up looking in Design Space.

I cut several layers of flowers which are all in the Blooms Bundle ready for layering.  I layered the flowers and added some flat back pearls.  A little white seam binding ties it all together!

The flowers simply slide right out of the pot for your note or a picture and there is more room to write above the pot.  This fits into a standard card size envelope since it measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Be sure to head over to Digi Choosday and check out the amazing projects from our team!  Then come share what you are crafting; we'd love to see it!  Remember, when you visit the Digi Choosday Site to pick up your discount code to Polkadoodles; it's good all day today....Tuesday!  It's a great way to pick up those digi's you've had your eye on!  While you're there, you might want to sign up for the Newsletter so you never miss out on special events!

My pot of flowers is off to the following challenges:
Dragonfly Dreams:  Flowers
A Gem of a Challenge:  Spring Flowers
Hiding in My Craft Room:  Buttons or Bows

Thanks for dropping by today.  It's always great to have company!  Please feel free to peruse other pages/posts, visit my Pinterest,  or view some videos at my YouTube Channel.

Red...Power!

As we continue our series of Colors on our journey at Path of Positivity, we have come to red and I'm continuing my color tag series for 2018!

I stated earlier this month how I feel red is the color of power and I can't help but think about those ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz!

Dorothy: Oh, will you help me? Can you help me?
Glinda: You don't need to be helped any longer. You've always had the power to go back to Kansas.
Dorothy: I have?
Scarecrow: Then why didn't you tell her before?
Glinda: She wouldn't have believed me. She had to learn it for herself.
Scarecrow: What have you learned, Dorothy?
Dorothy: Well, I—I think that it, that it wasn't enough just to want to see Uncle Henry and Auntie Em — and it's that — if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with! Is that right?
Glinda: That's all it is!

How often we look for strength and power when we have it all along.

Edgy Faith/Art Journaling

A little Art Journaling this Sunday...

This layout is sort of a somewhat steampunk style mash-up of several thoughts, feelings, ideas, pictures, etc.  It loosely interweaves the lyrics from "Like A Prayer" with the verse Deuteronomy 31:6.

I realize this might be edgy faith journaling for some, but this is where I was led today.  Faith isn't always wrapped up in neat pretty packages that makes sense!  I suppose I'm pondering several ideas here:  time, mystery, choices, strength, courage, unlocking ideas, etc.

As well as mashing up those concepts, I have blended together several of the Polkadoodles collections for this layout.  The keys & clocks Ephemera, gears Steampunk Mirror are all from Winnie in Wonderland.  The wings, angels (cherubs), and butterflies are from Belle Papillon.  The background paper is from Winnie Special Moments and then there is Ula- Be Yourself.

My Journal pages are off to the following challenges:

SanDee and Amelie' Steampunk Challenges:  Steampunk (I'm new to this style, but maybe this is somewhat steampunk?!)
The Three Muses:  Lyrics
TTCRD:  AG
We Love to Create:  Mixed Media AG

Furry Fox

The new optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday is Furry!  Remember, our twists are always optional!

I have chosen the adorable Mr. Foxy from Polkadoodles for my card.  In the digi he is walking amongst the grasses and mushrooms, so I decided to pull in more mushrooms from Cricut cartridge Bits and Pieces.  The background is stamped with various stamps and embossed.  I then rubbed the piece over a stamp pad to bring out the embossing.

The card is finished off with some scrap ribbon and an old Prima flower.  I backed it on a stash piece of cardstock.

Just a heads up...The Twisted Thursday Pot of Gold starts with our first challenge in March!!  This is a great way to celebrate the Ides of March and be a lucky leprechaun!  Be sure to visit Twisted Thursday for all the details!

My fox is running off to the following challenges:

Get Creative Chalenge:  AG with Ribbon or Washi
2 Crafty Critter Crazies:  AG with a critter

Love, Passion and The Horse Whisperer

Valentine's Day is all about love and passion, so I wanted to share this layout.  It might seem odd to share this in conjunction with love, but trust me, you have to have a great passion to work with horses!  ; )

A little background on this journal entry:  I was in the field of therapeutic horsemanship for several years and loved it.  The last 6 years of my work was in my own barn and we had a motto ~  Think It, Feel It, Do It!

Think about your action before committing to it!
Feel the action with the horse!  Usually this is enough to engage the horse into movement.  But if he doesn't respond, then....
Do the cue!

So much of horsemanship is best transferred into everyday life.  If we start out by thinking about what we want to do, we have a clearer picture of what we want and we can convey it well.  If we think about how it will feel for ourselves and others, we start to create the cause and effect!  Then we can actually commit to the action once we know it is in everyone's best interest.

Through reading and research, I found Buck Brannaman (the original Horse Whisperer from the movie and book) saying this:

If we make decisions with our head and carry them out with our heart we learn to be consistent and fair.....and that is what horsemanship is all about.

*   *   *

About the pages:  Most of what I used on these pages, including the book itself, is from CTMH: lots of stamps, ink, letters, gems, brads, metal pieces.  There are some flowers from Prima, Paper Studio ribbon, Darice Twine and thread to complete.

My journal pages are off to the following challenges:

City Crafter Challenge:  Books Smart ~ Inspired by a book:  The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans

How many layers can you put on a project following the Love theme?  I'm sure you can get several on there! ; )

Fat Tuesday!

Hard to believe we are so close to starting Lent; but before we get there, we have the last big eating fun of Fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday....and of course, for us Lutherans, that means PANCAKES!  YAY!  Polkadoodles has the perfect digis for us to create cards, add to our journals, create invitations, or any other use you can imagine!

This sort of says it all, don't you think?  I mean, what else needs to be said after PANCAKES!!  The floral background paper is from Love & Kisses Bundle and you'll find the background for Miss Sugarpops in the same collection.

Here is a close up of Miss Sugarpops with her pancakes and syrup.  I used a gel pen to accent that yummy syrup!

The brown piece was embossed and inked as was the doily under my focal image.  I added some string, lace, ribbon, gems and a bow.

The little sweetie is off to the following challenges:

Pause Dream Enjoy:  Treats

Homemade Flowers

The new optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday is Tickled Pink or Homemade Flowers~~ so, you have a choice this week!  Remember, our twists are always optional!

The digi, papers and flower dies I used this week are from our wonderful sponsor ~ Polkadoodles.  You can find the papers and digi in the Love & Kisses Bundle.  The digi alone is also called Love & Kisses!

I printed off the digi and the papers I wanted to use in the sizes I needed for the card.  That is one of the nicest things about digital papers, I only need to physically have what I actually need for the project!

I pulled together some scraps of lace, flowers I had cut for a previous project, black twine, and an old button to embellish.  My homemade flower is from some lace I had cut apart and saved.

The Love sentiment is from Cricut cartridge Spring Fling.

This Valentine Cutie is off to spread Love at the following Challenges:

Watercooler Wednesday:  Anything Feminine
The Outlawz:  Shades of Purple
Try it on Tuesday:  Love is in the Air
Crafting from the Heart:  AG

Vintage CowGirl Lapbook/Junk Journal

Is it any wonder with a blog named ScrappyHorses I would enjoy making a Vintage CowGirl Junk Journal?  I really loved creating this project I have made for my friend who is (and always has been) a cowgirl!  I started in Pinterest saving old pictures of famous women of the west!  I've become enamored with Prairie Rose, Mable Strickland, and several others!  It was so fun reading about them and others who settled the West!

I was  very excited to find a Lapbook Style Tutorial from Mike Deakin:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPNI3oe8zoU&t=381s  The minute I watched this video, I knew this was the overall style I wanted for this journal.

Lots of tearing, sewing, and gluing of odds and ends!  The book base is made of cereal boxes and kraft paper.  Papers and embellishments are many and most are probably no longer available as they've been in my stash awaiting just the right project!  I know these are represented:  Prima, Bo Bunny, FabScraps, Tim Holtz, CTMH, and Kaiser Crafts.  I also incorporated some old jewelry, burlap, twine, buttons, inks, stamps, cheese cloth, paint, Cricut cuts, lace, copied photos from Pinterest, embossing folders, washi tapes, etc.

Please see the video below to view the inside pages of this journal.
There are several, so I thought it would be easier to make a video than to post them all!

My book and video are off to the following challenges:

Dream Factory:  The Horse Whisperer
Creative Artiste:  AG Mixed Media
Art Journal Journey:  Animals from A-Z (Horse)
We Love 2 Create: Anything Creative/Mixed Media
Get Creative Challenges:  use Washi or Ribbon (I used both in this book)
Pile It On:  3-D Embellishments
Country View Challenges:  Anything but Cute

Recycle - Upcycle!

Hey, old CD cases don't need to go into the trash when you can use them on a desk!  We over at Digi Choosday are sharing some ways to Recyle/Upcycle this week!

Our Challenges are always Anything Goes for all of your wonderful entries!

I started with this old CD holder and the cute pics of my grand-girl.  These photos inspired me to go right into the Little Monsters Collection!  Perfect kit for the headband she got for Christmas!  The heart border is created using hearts from Love and Kisses.

I simply measured the size I wanted to fit the CD case and designed the layout in my computer Notes Program.  I printed onto photo paper, trimmed them, and glued them into place.  That easy!

Red

As we continue our series of Colors on our journey at Path of Positivity, we have come to red!  Red, red, red....what are your thoughts on red?  Hmm.....

I suppose for me red is a color of passion and power and for me these words seem to work hand in hand.  It seems the more passion you have for something the more strength in your power.  We've all seen the red Valentines (passion) and the ever popular red power tie!  So, I suppose many people have these feelings evoked from this color!

Since Valentine's Day is near I'm going to start the month with Red as Passion in the Love sense.  This card might be suitable for Valentine's Day, engagement, wedding, anniversary, or general love.   I tried to use some different hues or shades of reds moving slightly toward the Pink/Reds.

The focal image, Hearts with Bow, is from Pattie's Creations.  My card front is one layer put together in Cricut Design Space incorporating some Cricut Shapes and images.  The beautiful floral frames are from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles Flower Power.  I printed the completed panel and colored the focal image with Copics.

I finished the card by layering it onto white cardstock and then a black card base.  A little bling seemed appropriate!  ; )

Be sure to come on over to Path of Positivity and see what the team thinks about red!  You can also find more information about entering the challenge!  Thanks for our wonderful sponsors this month:
Pattie's Creations and Ike's Art.
