ScrappyHorses Guest Artist ~ Lucy

Hi, my name is Lucy and I am acting as guest artist at my Nana's blog today!  I just finished first grade and I'm 7 years old.  Nana will be back soon to share something fun with you, but for today I will be sharing my invitation to a special campout we are going to have.

I have a BFF Pony Pals Club with my friend and her sister.  We are going to have a campout with our horses.  I wanted to make invitations for it.  The card above is what I made.

I used Arches watercolor paper.  I stamped the cute girl and colored her with watercolor pencils from CTMH.  Then I colored the sun, sky and grass.  Then I got out some paint brushes and water to paint over what I colored.  That was my favorite part!

Nana helped me emboss the brown cardstock using a wood grain folder from CTMH.  The paper and gems are also from CTMH.  I really like gems and sparkly stuff.  My Nana has a lot of fun stuff like that.  She lets me use it when I come over.

I'm going to send this to some challenges:
Outlawz Twisted Thursday because their theme is Show us some Water!  I used watercolor pencils and water to color the card.
TTCRD because that is AG!

Thanks for looking at my card today!

Happy Birthday Box

Time for a challenge over at Cut It Up!  This is our 99th challenge; that means in 2 weeks we will be hosting a huge celebration!  Be sure to check that out on July 8th.....but, in the meantime we have a fun 3-D Challenge!

When I found this adorable puzzle from Bugaboo (Brat Birthday Girl), I thought it would be perfect for a birthday favor box.  The box is a die cut from the Artiste Cartridge and the tag is from Artbooking.  I scanned the image from Bugaboo into Design Space and cut it.  The image is colored with Copics.

The word search list is printed to the right of the image.  I cut it separately to go on a tag to stick out of the box.  I filled the box with goodies and it's ready for the party!

Ok, speaking of parties, be sure to check out all the 3-D projects from the DT and enter our challenge for a chance to win some cute images from Bugaboo!  Then come back in two weeks for our 100th challenge!

Sharing Opportunities

Today I want to share some different opportunities with you!

First, this card is created from a digi by Sandy Allnock.  It is part of her Copic Jumpstart Class available at her site.  I don't believe this image is available now, but the class is!  If you have considered taking a Copic class, this is the perfect on-line opportunity.  I personally learned so much and found her teaching style very inspiring!  Just an FYI, this image was colored before the class started as a way to measure our growth.  I'll be sharing more Copic coloring projects in the near future!

Secondly, you can find details about this card in the Through The Craft Room Door Magazine coming out in the next couple of weeks!  If you don't have a subscription to this publication, you can find details about it here.   Your subscription gives you 6 bi-monthly issues of the magazine, access to previous issues, lots of free digital images, tutorials, articles and more.  TTCRD also offers a great weekly AG challenge!

Next, I want to tell you CTMH's new Idea Book will be available August 1st!  Fun news, yes?  Sad news, many items (including three of the Cricut Cartridge Collections) will retire July 31st to make room for new.  If you have questions about an item you've been watching, please don't hesitate to ask.  Be sure to check out the June Bundle sales on Fridays beginning at 3:00 MDT.

Finally, I want to add the opportunity to share your art creations at Path of Positivity.  PoP is a site offering positive themes to inspire art of different media.  You can share stories, poems, cards, philosophy, journal pages, canvases, etc as long as it fits the theme.  Pop offers great prizes and inspiration.  PoP has been around for a while, but it seems few people know about it.

Thanks for dropping by today!  I hope you'll find one of these opportunities interesting!

Achievement: Graduation!

Digital layout using Kitten Scraps May Kit.

We have such a timely theme over at Path of Positivity!  With all the graduations, weddings, fairs, new homes, etc there are so many achievements to celebrate.  We are at the mid-point with this theme and I've decided to share a more traditional achievement from our family.

My nephew graduated as the valedictorian this spring!  Needless to say, we all thought this was quite an achievement.  His hard work from his prior 13 years of school truly paid off.  He gave a great speech sharing his thoughts on following your passions to achieve success.

That philosophy is so true and yet so many of us fight it.  We try to be someone/something we are not and then don't understand why we cannot achieve our goals.  When we do this, we are certainly fighting a losing battle.  Even if others see us as successful, we never feel the achievement because it never feels "good enough" or "right" to us.

His speech also made me think about all of the small achievements along the way to the final goal.  Often times, we forget to celebrate those moments since we're looking toward the end result.  Those smaller moments are so important to the final outcome which in reality is not the final outcome!  Yes, my friends, that huge achievement is just one more moment on our way to the next.

Graduation Card using Kitten Scraps May Kit.

My projects are made using the This Year May Kits from Kitten Scraps.  I used the Neutral and Boy Kits.  I'm new to Digital Crafting, but I must say this is easier than you might imagine.  If you haven't tried this kind of creating, I encourage you to  give it a go!  Of course, you can also print it use it more traditionally as I did making the bag below.  My bag cut is from SVG Cuts.

Now that I've shared my story of achievement,  what's your story?    Share your thoughts with us through craft/story/art at Path of Positivity for a chance to win some great prizes!  Our sponsors this month are Robyn's FetishKitten ScrapsCreative Bug, and Decosses Dynamite Doodles.  So, pop on over to PoP and see what Design Team has to share and check out the prizes.  We can't wait to see what you create!

Gran's Chair

This pretty image is from Beccy's Place and is part of the Progressive/Freebie Challenge over at Outlawz Challenges!  When I was a kid, my grandparents had a child's rocker just this color.  We used to sit in it and read books.

My card is a CAS card this time.  I know, that's very out of character for me!  I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a bit.  Of course, I couldn't jump out with both feet all at once; I had to layer and put a bow on it!  I suppose that makes this Clean and Layered.

Material List:

Image:  Gran's Chair from Beccy's Place
Copics
CTMH Cardstock:  White Daisy, Honey
CTMH Embossing Folder:  Floral
Embroidery Floss from Stash

My chair is rocking its way to the following challenges:

Alphabet Challenge Blog:  H for Hand Coloured Image
Beccy's Place June Challenge:  Use an image from Beccy's Place
Outlawz Progressive/Freebie Challenge
Pile It On:  Something Old (embossing folder), New (Image), Blue (The Rocker colored with Copics in various Blues)

Thanks for dropping by!  If you are into CTMH products, you might enjoy checking out the Flash Sales every Friday in June.  They have some great bundles Friday-Sunday.

The Flower Shop

Time for some Scribbles Designs!  I have had such a great time as a guest designer over at Scribbles; Sandy has so many fun images!  There is definitely something for everyone there.

For this tag I've chosen  #860 Flower Shop.  I decided to go with a sort of "loose shabby chic" style.  I colored the image very loosely with sort of a scribble effect.  The idea is to simply fill the space with color without worrying too much about staying in the lines or filling the entire space with color.

I colored my scrap of lace with Copic markers.  Hint:  I never use the broad nib end for coloring images so I use that end to add color to fabrics.  I just sort of dab it on and let it dry!  I dabbed R02, followed by R14 and finished up using a sponge to apply a bit of CTMH Champagne ink.

I took a piece of Poppy thick twine apart and used a portion of that for the bow.

Material List:

Image:  Scribbles Designs Flower Shop
Copic Markers
CTMH Paper/Cardstock:  Pear, White Daisy
CTMH Inks: Topiary, Champagne
CTMH Embellishments: Poppy Thick Twine, Gold Sequins, Burlap
Other Embellishments:  Offray Lace, Darice Twine
Tags cut from CTMH Artbooking Cartridge in Cricut Design Space

This image is just so darling; I foresee cards, box fronts, and more tags with this image!

Thanks for coming by today.  Be sure to drop by the Scribbles Challenge where the theme is tools of the trade!  The Design Team has some amazing projects to inspire you if you are stuck for ideas, and remember there are always freebies over at Scribbles!

Framed!

A couple of weeks ago, one of my cards was chosen as top pick over at Challenge Up Your Life.  That honor comes along with the opportunity to be a Guest DT over at their challenge blog.  I never turn down that sort of fun!

The theme this time is Frame(s).  Now I have to say, I had several different ideas in my head and I just couldn't seem to commit to one.  Then I was out in the barn and saw the old shoes hanging, remembered the most recent pic of my little grand-girl with a stuffed horse, and decided on an entirely different project!

I designed this in Cricut Design Space.  I cut 4 ovals from cereal boxes and glued them together as the backing.  Then I cut my photo in an oval slightly smaller than the previous ovals.  My flowers were cut from the CTMH Artiste cartridge and stamped using background stamps to give them some texture.  I fussy cut a little heart out of burlap and tied a twine bow.  To make this stand, I cut a hinge type of arm for the back and adhered it with a glue gun.

Material List
Used Horseshoe
CTMH Cardstock:  Sorbet, Pixie, Pear
CTMH Embellishments:  Gold Sequin, Mocha Gem, Burlap
CTMH Ink:  Champagne, Blush
Darice Twine
CTMH Stamps:  Distressed Backgrounds, Assorted Edges

My little frame is trotting off to:
 Die Cut Divas:  AG
613 Avenue Create:  AG
Outlawz Twisted Thursday:  AG
Fantabulous Cricut:  Father's Day~ Hey, this pic of grand-girl will make a great gift for Papa!

I'm so thankful to the team over at Challenge Up Your Life for having me as their guest!  Go check out  all the wonderful projects from the DT and share your frame project!  I know they'd love to have you!  Thanks for coming by to visit.  As always make yourself at home and feel free to check out other pages/posts, shop the CTMH flash sale, leave me a message, or contact me using the button at the right side.

Sun & Surf!

Time for a little Sun and Surf over at Cut It Up and our sponsor is the Bugaboo this time!  You will want to click on over there and check out the great prize they are offering!  But first, I want to show you this little sand pail gift box I made from an adorable Bugaboo image!

Let's head off to Design Space for tutorial.

Insert a box/bag and the pail & shovel.  Next upload your image and insert that.  You can delete the shadows of the pail/shovel and then hide contour on two pails as shown on the right.   The third pail is for the image.  I left the top contour in, but I hid the rest.  Now it's time to place the shovel onto the bucket, place the image on top of that and size the pail to fit the image.  Hint:  stack the 3 pails together and group them.  Then size them to fit the image!  That will keep them all the same size!  Finally, ungroup the pails you want to cut; stack up the pail, shovel and image; flatten!

Print and cut the imaged pail; cut the box and remaining 2 pails.  Color the image and put it all together!  Easy as that!

Ok, time to head off to Cut It Up and show us your Sun & Surf project.  Remember to include a die cut!  Did I mention there is a prize?  Yep, Bugaboo is sponsoring a great prize.

Material list:

Bugaboo image:  Chibi Beach
Copic Markers
Cartridges in DS:  Art Philosophy, The First        Few Years
CTMH CS:  Cotton Candy, Daisy White
CTMH Thick Poppy Twine
CTMH Starfish from a retired set

Baking Up Achievement!

We have such a pertinent theme over at Path of Positivity!  With all the graduations, weddings, fairs, new homes, etc there are so many achievements to celebrate!

Having grown up in a 4-H family and then creating my own 4-H crew, summer is definitely a time full of accomplishment and achievement!  There is nothing more fun than watching the kids start the year oblivious to their project and then seeing it come to life during the summer.  Now, I'm not saying  it comes to life without lots and LOTS of prodding and nagging, but it's still so much fun to see it happen!

I did not show animals in 4-H since we didn't live on a farm, but I did participate in crafts, foods, sewing, photography, and some other projects.  One of my personal favorites was foods.  My daughter also showed in foods and was much more successful than I ever was!  She had several champions!

One of our favorite summers was the year she practiced making apple pies.....ah, yes.....that was a great summer!  We all gained 10 pounds, but it was worth it!

I decided to make this card for her to remind her of her wonderful days of baking achievements.  Hey, maybe this will spark an idea for her to bake one of those yummy pies!

*   *   *

Now that I've shared my story of achievement,  what's your story?  What do you think of when you ponder this concept?  Share your thoughts with us through craft/story/art at Path of Positivity for a chance to win some great prizes!  Our sponsors this month are Robyn's Fetish, Kitten Scraps, Creative Bug, and Decosses Dynamite Doodles.  So, pop on over to PoP and see what Design Team has to share and check out the prizes.  We can't wait to see what you create!
