Dad's Austin

The new twist for our Anything Goes challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday is Anything Goes!  So, I guess you could say, ANYTHING  GOES!  Yep, whatever you've been doing, we want to see it!  Well, as long as it's craft related!  hee hee  Our sponsor is Digistamps4Joy.

I'm using Dad's Austin this week.  It seems I never have enough stamps/digis for guys.  This one is perfect for all the car enthusiasts in my world!

This is the old masking tape technique made easy with a stamp I purchased from CTMH a while back.  Probably just as easy to use the masking tape, but I had the stamp; it has sort of a paint stroke to it.  I stamped over the image in a vintage color to make it look old and layered up some greens and vintage browns underneath.

Thanks for dropping by today.  It's always great to have company!  Please feel free to peruse other pages/posts or view some videos at my YouTube Channel.

Christmas With a Snowman!

I love a woodsy look at Christmas so I decided to go with this delightful foursome on a tag of Kraft wood embossed paper.  The burgundy/red paper, sentiment, and the digi are all from Winnie White Christmas and the digi is called Snowman & Friends.

I printed the image onto watercolor paper and used watercolor pencils.  This is a sort of new technique for me.  I need more time with it, but I think I'm going to like it for a change of pace.

I backed the image with the polkadot paper and then kraft paper embossed with a folder.  Then I went over the raised portions with chocolate ink.  I thought it made them appear to be out in a forest!

I finished it off with a fern green ribbon to tie in with the scarf colors.   It's a new challenge over at Digi Choosday and we are sharing Clean and Simple this week!

Be sure to head over to Digi Choosday and check out the amazing projects from our team!  Then come share what you are crafting; we'd love to see it!  Remember, when you visit the Digi Choosday Site to pick up your discount code to Polkadoodles; it's good all day today....Tuesday!  It's a great way to pick up those digi's you've had your eye on!  While you're there, you might want to sign up for the Newsletter so you never miss out on special events!

Change is Good!

The new theme over at Cut It Up is Change is Good: Altered Item.  I love altering items and I must type out loud, it makes me somewhat of a packrat! I found this old, broken light fixture out in our barn.  I decided it needed a new life!  Now it had been in the barn for a while and it was....well, sort of dirty!  So, it was scrubbed outside with a hose, brought in and washed with Dawn and a scrubber, and then bathed in bleach water!

I have included a video for this project; but if you watch, you'll notice I left out the floral and coloring parts.  Basically, I just stuck the flowers into the play dough and colored the image!  ; )

 Cuts are as follows:
CTMH Flower Market:  Wheat Cluster and Wheat Wreath
CTMH Artistry:  Teepee
Cricut Nate's ABC's:  grasses from Elephant and Wheelbarrow with Dog Images

My altered light fixture is off to the following challenges:

World Wide Open DT:  AG

Surrounded by Equine Art

Well, it's mid-month and we are continuing Surround Yourself with ART over at Path of Positivity!  If you missed my post at the beginning of the month, you can see it HERE.  The idea is to share how you are inspired by art ~ art of any form!  Anything from the great masters to comic strips!  What sort of art inspires you in a positive way?

I mentioned in my earlier post one way to answer that question is to look around your house.  That's exactly what I did.  Now in addition to angels and victorian children, I have some horsey pieces.  Imagine that...someone with a blog called ScrappyHorses has horses represented in art, photographs, knick-knacks, framed scrapbook layouts, etc!

Here are a few pieces I enjoy seeing every day:

So yes, the horses, blacksmiths, cowboys, etc live amongst the Victorian children and the angels!  Eclectic or eccentric?  You can decide that!  ; )

*   *   *
As for my project this month, I chose to go with that adorable Bugaboo Cowgirl meeting up with an unexpected equine!  That magical Unicorn is also from Bugaboo.  I created these pages for an Art Journal featuring famous equine/horse quotes.

I Copic colored the digi's, corner-stamped,added stars and ink-sponged the grass and sky.  To add some sparkle, I added gems to the flowers, glitter paste to the belt buckle, and gel pens & gold shimmer to the mane and tail.

That wonderful quote is from Lewis Carroll's book, Through the Looking Glass.  I love the way the unicorn is looking at this cowgirl and she is "blank-faced" and standing somewhat frozen!

My pages are off to the following challenges:

Jo's Scrap Shack:  AG
Catch the Bug:  BINGO ~Sentiment/Sparkle/Bugaboo

Our challenge is sponsored this month by LunaGirl
and Bugaboo Stamps!

Thanks for stopping by; PoP on over to the challenge (where you can learn more about our theme and sponsors) to see what the rest of the team is doing and share with us your thoughts, art, and inspirations!  Our themes are optional now, so we'd love to see anything positive you've been working on even if it doesn't exactly fit the theme.

Falling Leaves

The new twist for our Anything Goes challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday is Leaf/Leaves!  Our sponsor is Digistamps4Joy.

Again this week, I have combined two stamps from DigiStamps4Joy!  I have chosen Emma and Going Somewhere.

I went into Design Space and "flattened" my images onto a rectangle.  I added some leaf cuts, but "flattened" them which turned them into prints.  After printing and cutting my card front, I Copic colored the images and added gold sparkle to the leaves.

Here's the dimensional effect.  I colored the dress again and fussy cut it.  I adhered just the bodice (top of dress) to the card.  This adds some fun dimension to an otherwise flat card.  Tip...not that any of you would ever need to do this...but, you can hide things that go wrong this way, also!  ; )

I used all scrap papers laying on my table, a scrap of burlap, and some red Glitter Tape & Gems.

As for the theme, well, there are leaves and she's obviously leaving on an adventure!  hee hee  I have created with Emma before and you can see that post HERE!

Sending this off to the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room:  Super scraps Saturday!

The Crazy Challenge:  Autumn
Classic Design Team Open Challenge:  AG

Quick, Wrap It!

Here are a couple of very quick ways to wrap those presents!  The first is a bag with one of those adorable Winnie White Christmas PRE-COLORED Toppers on it and a tag made from one of the PRE-COLORED Digis.

This second one is simply some of the paper wrapped around a brown box with a tulle bow and that adorable little baby from the collection!

Doesn't get much easier than that!

Thanks for dropping by today.  It's always great to have company!  Please feel free to peruse other pages/posts or view some videos at my

Christmas Cocoa

It's a new Anything Goes challenge over at Digi Choosday and we (the DT) are sharing Christmas this week!

I thought it would be fun to use the Winnie Winterland Collection to up-cycle this baby cereal container.  All of the borders and images are PRE-COLORED.  I did go in and so some some slicing and changing of some of the pieces to customize a bit.  The bow is actually from Work and Play 8 - Feel the Music.  The tag is cut from the pocket watch in the Winnie in Winterland Collection Ephemera Bundle.

Quick and Easy Christmas Card!

If you enjoy sending your cards in bulk with pictures, the Winnie White Christmas Collection is right for you!  The papers and frames make it quick and easy to put a holiday card together in just about any program and mail them out!  You'll spend more time typing addresses than making the card!

I made this card on a Mac in the Notes program...nothing fancy or expensive....and very little learning curve!  hahaha

You can string together as many or few frames as you need and size them appropriately.  I used three pattern papers and three frames.  Added some drop shadows and the pictures and hit print!  Just that easy!

My card is off to the following challenges:

12 Months of Christmas:  Picture Inspiration (pictures, colors)

Time to Give

Sorry for the awkward print on this post.  For some reason, a few of my posts are not saving the way I type them.

Day 5 of Winnie White Christmas from Polkadoodles!

This decor piece is a little different for me since I started this project at Menards!  Menards is a home improvement store and when I asked Kelly, my guy, to take me there after dinner one evening he was very happy to oblige.  (He's not so excited about the craft stores and claims he has anxiety attacks in them!  He hates, loathes, despises the floral section!  hmmm.....)  Anyway, I have digressed......

I was walking up and down the aisles and saw these wonderful brick pavers and thought Christmas!  So, I purchased a couple.  Now, I didn't stop there; you'll be seeing some other makes in the future with other goodies I found!

I perused the wonderful images and saw Time to Give digi and couldn't help but think of Winnie and all the animals gathering by the brick fireplace exchanging their homemade gifts.

I print and cut the pieces, Copic colored the digi, and backed all the cardstock with cereal box cuts to make them sturdy.  I added some burlap for a rustic, round rug and the scene is set.  A couple of gems and some gold thread add a festive touch.

In case you're wondering how I got it all to stick to a brick....well, the good news is Aileen's Turbo Tack Glue did the trick.  Trust me ~ it's stuck!!

This lovely homespun tree, the flower, foliage, and digi are all found in the Winnie White Christmas Collection!

My brick is off to the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps:  Christmas use a stamp (Digi stamp from Winnie White Christmas)
Card Mania:  Rustic project or Shabby Chic

Jo's Scrap Shack:  AG

Wrapping Box

I enjoy wrapping gifts!  When I'm pretty much done, I like to leave a few items easily accessible for last minute gifts.  I have always just thrown them into a basket in the past, but this year I thought it would be fun to make a box for them.  Having this decorative box will just add to the decor as I'll leave it out on a vintage school desk that sits by the tree.  I'll have what I need close by and it'll look festive at the same time!

I designed my box in Cricut Design Space using the square and pentagon shape.  I manipulated them to the sizes and shapes I needed using the tools in DS (Slice, size change).  I then cut strips 1.5 inches wide from Kraft paper to join the pieces together.

This festive paper is from the Winnie White Christmas Collection!  You can peruse the entire collection here!

I did some water color pencil on the tag and used the delightful Sleightime Digi printed on top of some of the beautiful Embossed paper found in the collection!

My box is off to the following challenges:
A Gem of a Challenge:  Use Kraft Cardstock
Allsorts Challenge:  Use at least 2 Design Papers
CHNC Challenge:  AG Christmas +use foliage

Buying the Tree!

Day 3 of Winnie White Christmas from Polkadoodles! Probably the best day of Advent at our house has always been setting out the tree!  There's nothing like turning on the lights for the first time of the season!

This adorable stamp is Buying the Tree.  I added some PRE-COLORED trees, a sentiment, and one of the beautiful Embossed Papers (all found in the Big Kahuna Download).

After printing the card front, I Copic colored and added some colors to accent the swirls in the embossed paper to make it look like a blustery winter day! I finished it off with some little seed gems to accent the flowers on her hat and some glitter glue on the fluffy ball.

There are also new clear stamps, physical papers, and a USB key for the New Winnie White Christmas Collection in addition to the downloadable collection.  You can see it all HERE.

You can find all the Downloadalble Polkadoodles Winnie White Christmas I used here in the Big Kahuna Download.

Apples

The new theme over at Cut It Up is Johnny Appleseed ~ Use an Apple on your project!

When I saw the apple theme, I couldn't help but think of my sister who teaches chemistry and now physics has been added to her repertoire!  These seemed the perfect gift for her classroom in light of her new topic!  This apple cut is from Polkadoodles Winnie Sugar Sprinkles- Fruit Punch Collection.

Visiting Santa!

Day 2 of Winnie White Christmas from Polkadoodles!  I love to scrap and make journals!  With the alphabet and gorgeous papers this collection is perfect for layouts and journals!

There are also new clear stamps, physical papers, and a USB key for the New Winnie White Christmas Collection in addition to the downloadable collection.  You can see it all HERE.

That homespun tree is a pre-colored digi in the kit.  I chose to separate the layers and cut (without print) them individually and fold, wrinkle, add dimension.  I cut it from a couple of different festive papers from the collection!
My title is from the included alphabet; it reminds me of Holiday Candy!  The Santa clothesline has to be one of my favs in this collection!  I think it is adorable!

You can find all the Downloadalble Polkadoodles Winnie White Christmas I used here in the Big Kahuna Download.

Cocoa for a White Christmas!

Introducing Winnie White Christmas from Polkadoodles!  This is such a festive new collection with papers, sentiments, tags, and adorable digis to brighten your holidays!  You are sure to find inspiration for Christmas crafts & cards, as well as gifts, wrapping, memory keeping and decor!

There are also new clear stamps, physical papers, and a USB key for the New Winnie White Christmas Collection in addition to the downloadable collection.  You can see it all HERE.

I’m kicking off this launch week of makes with a gift idea; who wouldn’t love cocoa in this decorative carrier!

I started in Cricut Design Space and designed the carrier using shapes and a bit of slicing and dicing!  ;)  I then printed and cut all the paper, tag, Winnie Topper, flower/foliage, and that adorable little bird!  This was a quick put-together since the topper and bird are PRE-COLORED  (No Copics were harmed in this project!)

I added some ribbon, button, thread, gem and some filler all from my stash.  The cups are Dixie cups.  Sorry, the marshmallows are not available from Polkadoodles....unless maybe you make a special deal with Nikky!  hee hee

You can find all the Downloadalble Polkadoodles Winnie White Christmas I used here in the Big Kahuna Download.  Or you can find some pieces individually:  Pre-Colored Topper, Printable Papers 4, Foliage.  Can't find something I used?  Just ask; I'm more than happy to help you find it!
