Rings

This layout is a little out of the ordinary for me, but I was in the mood to do something different.  I have to admit, I made this for the challenge a couple of weeks ago and then realized I couldn't use black, so here it is for this week's challenge at Color My Heart!

I don't have Whisper ink, so I had to sub in Slate.  I did use Whisper Cardstock along with Black and Daisy White.

My stamp sets include:  Love Life, Love, Amour, and Big Hug.  Embellishments include Silver Shimmer Trim, Sparkles Flourishes (I cut it apart to make the design) and Gems.  I also used the Quatrefoil Embossing folder on my background piece of Whisper CS.

From Thunder's Point of View

Have you ever had the perfect sketch, paper, embellishments, pictures, etc and still couldn't make a layout work?  I struggled with this one for days before I came to this revelation: this is not MY story!  I needed to scrap/write it from Thunder's point of view!  Once I figured that out, it came together.

If you look closely at the pictures, you'll notice Thunder walking quietly behind and beside his girl.  Then as they got closer to the barn, our younger horse decided to check things out and Thunder felt this was entirely unnecessary!  Note those pinned back ears and Rubin moving away with crossed over legs!  Kelly and Lucy are laughing because Kelly knows exactly what is going on here, but he also knows he needs to move Lucy along and get her into the barn in case Rubin doesn't yield to Thunder's warning!  Thunder is very protective of this little girl and I am now inspired to do another LO from his vantage point.

I used the wonderful sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.  If you've not visited that site, I highly recommend it.  I have to say, I can never seem to leave the sketch alone and this one was no exception. I rotated it and flipped it!  I loved the sketch the way it was, but I couldn't seem to make my pics work......like I said I struggled with this LO until I thought about how Thunder would want it!  ; )

The background paper is from DCWV Rustic Stack.  The blue behind that is from Core'dinations.  The rest of the paper is CTMH.

CTMH Embellishments include:  Epoxy Bubbles, Floret Paper Flowers, and Timberline Assortment.

Stash Embellishments:  Lace, lace heart, horseshoe sticker and buttons.

A Cute Kitty!

These pictures have been sitting in my iPhoto for over 2 years.  I decided they were way too cute to sit there any longer!

I was inspired by several challenges today!  Scrap Our Stash has a fun challenge where we were challenged to use some item for each letter in the word STENCIL.  Here is my breakdown:

Bitten by the Bug 2 is celebrating National Old Stuff Day.  The challenge there is to use a cartridge we haven't used in a while.  I have to say, the last time I used Meow was back in September; for me that's a while!  I tend to use the same cartridges over and over; so, going 5 months is a long time!  I also have to say I used some new cartridges in DS I had never used before:  Once Upon a Princess, Recess, and Home Organizer.  The balloons are from Flourishes, but I use that pretty regularly.

Pile It On challenged us to use Adhesive Elements!  That's an easy one for me!  I love them.  I have an Epoxy Bubble, a White Pearl Gem, four Flamingo Gems and 2 stickers from the CTMH Brushed Sticker complements.  

Sentimental Sundays is Anything Goes with a Sentiment.  My sentiment is a bit Sassy today!

613 Avenue Create is always Anything Goes, but this week their optional twist it Dr. Seuss!  I realize my kitty is not from Cat in the Hat, but it's still a cat and that is that! (That was my attempt at some Dr. Seuss poetry! hahaha)

Hey there, Cupcake!

Think Pink is one of the challenges over at Heart 2 Heart this month!  What's better than a festive pink cupcake?  Yum!  I missed the deadline to post it there, but I'll share here anyway!

I made this card as a birthday card, but I suppose it could go for many different occasions.  I used the December SOTM and stamped the cupcakes in Crystal Blue, Honey, and Cotton Candy.  I backed it with Crystal Blue CS.  The pink patterned paper is from Brushed.  The cupcake cut is from Art Philosophy.  I stamped the frosting with the I'ts a Party set that comes with the AP Bundle.  I stamped it and glittered it!  Hey, what's a birthday without glitter and sparkle?

The cupcake wrapper is adhered with some 3-D tape.  

I finished it out with some Sparkle Flourishes, Shimmer Trim and Flamingo Dots.

Another Country Girl

I missed the challenge over at Color My Heart last week, so I got on it quickly this time!  I was motivated by the colors:  Outdoor Denim, Sunset, Honey, Daisy White, and Olive.  

I lucked out on this one because I still had pieces left over from the Olive Mini-Medley!  The long border arrow is the strip in the chipboard compliments from Ariana; another left over piece I forgot I had!  All of my flower cuts were from Artiste and Art Philosophy.  The Country Girl is from Old West.  

I had some left over lace and a scrap button laying on the table, so they got glued down!

Move It!

This is another one of the canvases I did for a PATCH student.  In case you missed the info about these canvases, you can refer to this blog for the back story!

This young lady showed to the song "Move It" from Madagascar.  She wore the cutest costume and did such a great job with her horse!

I started the canvas with homemade glimmer mist made from CTMH Create a Shade Paint (retired), water, and Sky re-inker.  I stenciled the animal print with CTMH Pear ink with a stencil made from the Cricut Stencil Cartridge.  The polka dots are homemade texture paste tinted with CTMH re-inker.  I used a stencil cut from the CTMH Artfully Sent Cartridge.

I found the Madagascar image on the internet; I printed and cut it with my Cricut.  The Zebra is cut larger and popped off with 3-D tape.  The arrows are from a stencil I had in my stash and the groovy tape is Duck tape!  The title is cut from CTMH Ruby and Honey card stock.

This is going off to the Exotic Animal Challenge at Cut it Up!  Doesn't get much more exotic than those Madagascar characters!  ; )

Trip to the Wax Museum

Ah, yes, a trip to the Elementary School Wax Museum to see my nephew portraying Indiana poet James Whitcomb Riley.  The assignment was to choose a famous Hoosier and portray his/her life in a wax museum.  The portrait page of this layout is inspired by the sketch over at Stuck on U Sketches.  There are still a few more days to play this sketch if you are interested!

The embellishments were cut on the Cricut from these cartridges:  Heritage and Art Philosophy. I inked, stamped, etc.  

CTMH stamps include:  Distressed Backgrounds, Sweet and Lovely, and Universal Backgrounds.

I've included the 2nd page of my LO so you can see all the fun at the Wax Museum!  ; )  The sign below was cut from Art Philosophy and the letters were printed using the writing feature on the Cricut.  

Most of the papers are from CTMH.  I threw in a couple of scraps from my stash.

Chaps

This is Chaps!  He loves Christmas and I do mean Looooooves Christmas!  He likes the company, the tree, the manger, and his visit from Santa that results in a new toy every year.......because he's been such a good boy, of course!

Chaps, I'm sure, makes many wishes during the holiday season.  I'm speculating treats and toys are his wished for items!  ; )

 I was inspired by the color dare over at Color My Heart as well as the sketch from Scrap Our Stash.  The colors are from the beautiful paper pack Heartstrings.  I didn't get that one, so I had to improvise and pull the closest papers I had to those colors.  I must admit, I'm out of Cranberry, also!  Geeminetly, I need to get to my CTMH daughter and get an order done!  hahaha

Anyway, I had to sub in Ruby.  I pulled paper from Chantilly, Seaside, and a scrap from last year's Christmas paper!  I embellished with some CTMH Ruby and white polka do ribbon, Chevron Washi Tape and a few stamps from A Happy Hello.  His name is stamped from the Curlicue Alphabet.

Cuts are from Winter Frolic, A Child's Year, and Photo Booth Props.

It's a short post.  I wanted to get this in under the wire at Color My Heart!

What's in a Name?

What's in a name?  What is the inspiration?  Hmmm........  Create a layout aboutYour Name is a challenge over at Scrapbook Layouts.  I decided this would be a perfect addition to my Wildwood Crush Book.  I love this book; I know I've said it before, but it's the perfect art journal/scrapbook for me!  The pages are thick and they already have some background interest.  They'll take gesso, paint, ink, glue, texture paste, etc.

About my name, and this is where enTWINEd comes in for the first time.  My name came from a story book character.  However, it's hard to believe I wasn't named for both of my grandmothers since they are Catherine and Kathryn.  My great, great grandmother was also name Catherine.  That name seems to be woven throughout my family!

Ok, so about this LO.  It was the perfect opportunity to use some scrap strips from old papers as well as some new pieces:  Free to Be Me, For Always, Hopscotch, Chalk It Up.  I also used Cranberry, Kraft, Flaxen and Black.  

The buttons, flourishes and flowers were cut from Art Philosophy.  My name, ruler, and piece at the top right are from Artbooking.  The silhouette is from Suburbia.

I enTWINEd several stamps for the background; the sets include:  Assorted Edges and A Happy Hello.

My embellishments:  Black Epoxy Bubbles, Mini Medley Black, and the new Flaxen Thick Twine which is literally enTWINEd into the gate at the top of the right hand page!  

Hey, what's all this enTWINEd stuff about?  Glad you asked!  It's the recent challenge over at Heart 2 Heart!  There are many ways you might interpret this challenge, so head over and check it out!  

She Said, "Yes!"

She did say yes, but which she are we talking about?  Luckily, both of them said yes!  When Lucy's daddy proposed to Katie, Lucy was excited about the wedding and all; however, taking engagement pictures was getting a little boring.  That's when her daddy snatched her up and she became the center of the attention again......and what little girl doesn't like that?  ; )  I must say, she's sort of been the center of our world since we met her!

This LO was inspired by several challenges.  One of them called for a plaid.  Ok, I love plaids,,,,,,but,,,,hmmm........I can't seem to find one that matches the colors I want to use for my other challenge.  Ok, what's that saying, "Necessity is the mother of invention" or in my case creativity.

I started with a piece of White Daisy CS and went to town creating a sort of plaid pattern using black lines, and stamped rows of arrows from This Moment and the the border from Assorted Edges.  This gave me a plaid background for my Cranberry heart.

My heart was cut from Artbooking and creates the background for my pic.  The second heart was cut and embossed with the Chevron embossing folder.  I embellished it with black carpet thread and a button from the Mini-Medley Black collection.

The flowers are cut from Art Philosophy; the heart borders and XO's are from Artbooking.  The little hearts along the side are from those cuts.....well, except for the little red heart.  That was just sitting on the desk crying out to be used on this LO.  hahaha

I finished embellishing with Epoxy Bubbles and Flaxen Extra Thick Twine.  I also added a tiny bit of Arrow Washi Tape.  I stamped the words irresistible and wonderful from You're the Bomb stamp set.  The purchase of that stamp set provides a donation to Operation Smile!

My colors include:  Cranberry, Archival Black, Daisy White, Flaxen and Kraft.

Said No One Ever!

These little girls are a hoot to take to shows; they love their ribbons and the miniature horses!  It seems they always end up with the same ribbons for the day, so they are both happy.


I started with 3 pictures and the sketch from Sketches in Thyme.  I used the Cricut to cut the horses (Old West Cartridge) and the 3 rings.  Now this is sort of symbolic since taking 6 year olds to horse shows is sort of a 3-ring circus!  ; )


I stenciled some Lagoon colored stars and Pixie (pink) colored hearts.  I stamped some Gypsy (purple) flowers around.

Before adhering the rings, I embossed them with 3 different folders.  I added a few flowers and dots around the page.

My colors were chosen based on the bottom row of the Color Bingo game at 613 Avenue Create.

All CTMH products are from Katiescorner.  Inks, paper, card stocks, and flower cuts are from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  Stamp set is Assorted Edges.

My Guys

Yep, these are my guys!  The two men I love the most along with my dad, of course!  This pic was taken while I was running around trying to get ready for Keith's graduation party.  I remember we only had a few weeks, and these guys were supposed to be cleaning up the yard!  Keith had just gotten this new 4-wheeler and wanted to ride so he got his dad to ride with him.  I think he knew if his dad was riding, I couldn't say anything!  ; )

I used the journaling spot to write Keith's "To Do" list which had the things he should have been doing instead of riding, but I snuck in 'take dad on a ride' on that list!  hahahaha

My LO was inspired by the sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches.

The paper was from FancyPants.  It was a very old sheet in my stash.  It was a bit dark for my picture, so I gesso'd over it a bit to tone it down.

The tire tracks are from a CTMH stamp as well as the EPIC; the latter is from Reel Life.

The gears were cut from Artiste and the ATV from Dude!

My Valentine

 Sometimes my LO's are inspired by themes, sometimes by music, and other times by sketches.  Then there are times when it's inspired by all of the above!

This LO is sort of a look back.  I love those lyrics; they are from Wayne Watson's song "What Are You Still Doin' Here?"  If you've not heard this song and are interested, here is a link.  This song pretty much sums up what we both feel!

Kelly and I have been friends since we were 12 years old.........that's about 40 years now!

We eloped, so we had pictures done soon after we were married.  The more recent photo was taken a year or so ago.

Now, if you see pics later of me in a wedding gown, it's because we later had our wedding blessed in church.  That's a whole other story........ So, on to this LO!


My sketch came from Sketchabilities.

I started this LO with a blank piece of Colonial White CS.  I stamped with a background stamp in Chocolate and Flaxen.  Then I grabbed some gesso, pearl metallic paint, and Chocolate re-inker and painted lightly over the entire piece.  Next, I pulled my music stamp and stamped that image around the page.

Music: Noel, Noel

I know it's time for Valentine's Day, but I'm scrapping some Christmas pictures right now.  What makes this even more interesting is this pic is from Christmas 2013.  Of course, the truth is there are pictures from much further back I could be scrapping!

The paper is Yuletide Carol from CTMH; I love the music paper.  The beautiful scroll/flourishes on the Ruby paper really adorns itself.  That makes this layout pretty quick!

The lace was colored with Chocolate re-inker mixed with alcohol and paint.  The black/script flowers were cut from a pattern from Art Philosophy; that fabric is CTMH as well as the antique gold pieces.

The lace and heart up in the corner along with the button and champagne colored flower are from Dress It Up, but I think these are retired.  I got them from a garage sale!  There's also a little strip of tulle gathered behind the photo.

Home in the Country!

I just adore the 'country girl' who adorns this page!  She is like a 2nd daughter to me.  She works with me in my therapeutic horsemanship program, was in my daughter's wedding, and basically grew up with my kids!  I'm going to frame this layout and give it to her.

I was inspired by the picture to use CTMH Gypsy colored flowers.  Now the fun thing about these flowers are they are really the rowel off of the spurs from the Cricut cartridge Old West.  The horseshoe and barbed wire are also from that cartridge.

The paper is from CTMH Wanderful.  There is also a banner cut from CTMH Seaside.  Ink colors include:  Gypsy, Sweet Leaf, Honey, Saddle, Slate, Chocolate and Indian Corn Blue.  Stamps sets include:  Universal Backgrounds, Sweet and Lovely, Scandinavian Wishes, Genuine Country, Remarkable Wreath, Kudos and Family is Forever.  

Cricut cartridges include:  Old West, Art Philosophy, Ornamental Iron 2, and Pretty Pennants.
