Women's History Challenge

 Our new challenge over at Cut It Up is Women's History!  Now this is an interesting topic that could go in so many directions!  I decided to go with the early cowgirls and their influence on our history!

If we go back before the photos I chose for my project, we find women riding side saddle in long skirts!  Wow, not sure I could make that happen!  There are days I have enough trouble riding with one leg on each side of the horse!

These were tough women riding and working horses when it truly was a 'man's job'!  One of my favorite stories I read with my son is about a woman named Charlotte/Charley who lived as a man in order to ride/train/drive horses!  The book is Riding Freedom; great read!

Some of my favorite horsewomen who changed history are:  Temple Grandin,  Velma Johnston "Wild Horse Annie", and Charley (Charlotte) Parkhurst "One-Eye Charley or Six-Horse Charley."  Each has a wonderful story of overcoming so many obstacles and influencing equine history!

Celebrating Childhood

This year, and as we meander a Path of Positivity, we are challenging you to Celebrate!  We will share different optional themes every month for you to celebrate!

We continue to Celebrate with Something Special About Your Childhood!   I chose to go with a collage on a journal page!  I loved pictures, going to movies, art, listening to records/singing, playing jacks, my sister, writing stories, my cat, Peanuts, puzzles, playing cards/games, and dressing in ways my mom didn't like!  hahaha  That's what the red, white and blue shirt is all about!  

I chose to do this in a collage style because I loved that as a child!  Whenever we were given a choice to make a collage or write a report or build something in a class, I would almost always choose the collage!

The background was done with Faber Castel Gelatos, inks, stencils (of balls, stars and puzzle pieces), and stamps.  Once that was dry, I put a cut and heat embossed "game board" piece on to represent my love of board games. 

Next came the fun part of choosing different images and pieces.  They are listed below.  I found this quote on the internet and it was credited to Hary Jo Putney.

 Time for a new challenge at Paper a la Mode over at The Outlawz and the theme is Looking Forward to...!  

I designed another scrapbook page using fun papers and elements from our sponsor Kate Hadfield!  For a list of the different pieces I used, please see the material list!

I don't have any fancy equipment or programs for digital creating; I simply used my notes program free with my Mac.  I'm sure those who have and are familiar with "photoshop" type programs could really do spectacular creations with these fun papers and extras!  But I was out to prove you can have fun and come up with something special on a free program with very little computer creating knowledge as well!

If you are interested in dabbling, as I am, go for it!  It's very fun and not difficult!  ...and hey, it doesn't get glue, sparkles, and ink everywhere!   hahaha

Paint the Town Red

 It's time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the optional twist is:  Paint the Town Red.   

I opted to be a bit literal and make a night time scene with my cityscape in red! Th background is created in Cricut Design Space using the Print and Cut feature.  Then I added an Offset (shadow) around my super hero and printed him.  Colored him with Copics and attached!

Family & Music

As we meander a Path of Positivity, we are challenging you to Celebrate!  We will share different optional themes every month for you to celebrate!

We are moving through this month with this theme: Celebrate Something Special About Your Family!  This card is for my cousin specifically, but music cards would be appropriate for almost everyone in my family!  We have all studied music at some point in our lives and many of us have studied at the collegiate levels going on to to play into adulthood.  Some of us are music teachers, professors and/or performers and we marry other musicians!  So my family is full of music! 

   We'd like to hear your ideas at Path of Positivity.  Come share them with us!

This card features a die cut made from an oboe reed cut I created in Cricut Design Space welded to the wings of a dragonfly cut.  The background was also designed and made in CDS using cuts (mentioned below) as Prints.  I used the Print and Cut Feature and cut the card background.  I then cut the dragonfly from black and the wings from sparkle cardstock.
