New YouTube Series... Art Journaling My Favorite Songs

I'm experimenting with a new series of art journaling inspired by my favorite music in my newest Homemade Journal! My first layout explores "Games People Play" by The Alan Parsons Project.

This is some great music in a symphonic rock genre! The album, The Turn of a Friendly Card, was released in late 1980. You can check out the entire album HERE.

The sentiment on the left hand page of the layout is part of the lyrics written by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson.

Vocals on the song I've journaled, "Games People Play," are performed by Lenny Zakatek.

Check out the video below for ideas and info about how this layout was created.  You won't hear the song there, due to copyright and such, but you can listen to the above links!  ;)

Curious about this layout:  how it was made, the ideas or symbols in it, or other?  Join me at the video below.

Something New!

I was over at Lift Challenge, a new site for me, and saw this fun technique I hadn't tried before and I have to say I was very intrigued!  So, I looked at the wonderful DT examples and had a go!  They have also provided a link to a video on this process.

The technique is called 'angled ink-blending' and it really is great fun!  Now I chose my colors from the color challenge over at Retro Rubber Challenge.

The stamp, which happens to be Retro Rubber, is Kokopelli and fits the Festive Friday Challenge for World Music Day!

Kokopelli has several different stories behind him, but I'll focus on the idea he is associated with the idea of fun and appreciating what life has to offer; the flute symbolizes joy and music.  He is also seen as a muse to inspire creative individuals.  Others believe Kokopelli's flute music symbolized the transition of winter to spring.  There are several interesting stories about Kokopelli!

So, this is the outcome of my fun day at the art table and computer screen!  ; )

Material List:
Kokopelli Stamp (unknown age:  I got this stamp 2nd hand about 10 years ago!)
Black Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink
White Cardstock
CTMH Inks:  Topiary, Cashmere, Honey, Autumn Terra Cotta
Glitter Tape
Terra Cotta Cardstock
Music Embossing Folder from M-Bossabilities
Black Cardstock

This piece is off to the following challenges:
Lift Challenge:  'Angled Ink-Blending'
Retro Rubber Challenge:  Far Out Use at least 3 of the color below
Festive Friday:  Incorporate 3 of the items below

Christmas Cocoa/ Gift Holder for a Special Guy

I've made this Cocoa/Gift Holder for one of my favorite guys, Keith (my son)!

Even though he's grown and no longer living in our house, he still loves Christmas goodies made by his mom!  He loves cocoa in the winter; so, my plan is to put a packet of hot chocolate and a gift card or two in here!  What better way of spending a cold evening than drinking hot cocoa and on-line shopping for a car part!  ;)

Interested in seeing how I put this together?  Grab a beverage and join me in the video below!  I give some extra tips in Cricut Design Space and at the craft table!

A Krayzee Katz Tribute

As we meander a Path of Positivity, we are challenging you to Celebrate!  We will share different optional themes every month for you to celebrate!

We are starting June with this theme: Celebrate Something Special About Your Hero!

We'd like to hear your ideas at Path of Positivity.  Come share them with us!

Remember, you may share any sort of artistic medium over at PoP:  writing, cards, journals, scrapbooking, painting, sewing, baking, needle crafts, etc as long as it is positive!  The theme is always optional.

*   *   *
Ok, I don't really have a hero, but I do have many people I find very talented in their fields and I admire greatly!  So this month I will be choosing a few and designing projects in honor of them!

So to start the month at PoP, I want to say I really look up to the veterinarians in my world!  How they manage all those years in school to turn around and heal those who can't tell them what is wrong is amazing to me!

In my area, we are blessed with several talented vets and specialists since we have one of the top Vet schools just 45 minutes away!  Every vet I have worked with has been more than happy to educate, treat, console, and "just be there" in any animal situation!  They welcome kids to come shadow for the day, spend evenings talking to FFA and 4-H Clubs, and talk on the phone sometimes at very inconvenient hours!

Those large animal vets face long unpredictable hours, travel in all kinds of weather, and sometimes face serious injury!  As for the small animal vets, they have their own un-seen problems in the job and face the possibility of injury as well.  Not an easy or glamorous gig!  A big shout out and thanks to all those who tend to my furry friends!

I'm honoring these special docs with a stamp by a talented digi artist, Sue Eisenhower from Ike's Art and SUYP!  Ike was a very talented and somewhat outspoken artist who loved cats!!

Ike could do cute, dark, serious, or whimsical all with great flare.  Her style was her own and we at Path of Positivity always enjoyed creating with her digis!

Ike passed away last month, and she will be greatly missed.  Thanks, Ike, for leaving us your art!
