Time for the last Path of Positivity Challenge theme of 2016: Blessings. What an appropriate theme as we celebrate holidays and wrap up the year.
My first layout celebrates the wonderful year we had with my nephew! Wow, what an exciting time for him. He has blessed so many lives with his music and has definitely been a credit to our family. We were fortunate to hear him play several concerts, watch him graduate Valedictorian, and leave for Rose Hulman. We are all excited to see where his future takes him and we feel blessed to be a part of his life!
My second smaller layout is in memory of my friend Chaps who blessed our lives for many years. We found him at a shelter and have loved him since. Now, I'm not saying everyday was cake....especially the day we came home and found he had eaten an entire cake mix! It was definitely a struggle in the beginning as he ate through drywall, tore up door frames, ate anything he could pull off the counter tops/table, and tunneled under his pen in the barn. There was just no confining that guy! But he eventually settled in and proved to be a blessing. The older he got, the more I loved him! Chaps loved Christmas and his favorite part was the nativity scene. Every year we would set it out by the fireplace and he would lay by it. One day we found all the pieces gently moved out of the manger. He was laying there with his head inside the manger cradling the one remaining piece....the Baby Jesus. This shepherd knew the meaning of Christmas. On Christmas morning, Chaps would take his new toy from Santa to the manger and lay there by the fire. Chaps was my scrapping dog; he went up to the craft room with me everyday and sat in his chair watching me craft.
When I saw the beautiful winged sentiment in the Holiday Hoopla collection by Decosses Dynamite Doodles, I knew I wanted to do this layout to put out by our manger this year. All of the papers and frame are also from this delightful holiday set.
Thanks for dropping by. Now it's time to check out the inspiring art created by the team. Head on over to PoP and see what they have to offer and then share your thoughts, art, poetry, story, card, scrapbook layout, etc with us. We can't wait to see how you interpret this challenge theme!
I just saw the Blessing post in my email and considered making time to play along with this one. I have been truly blessed this year and I know exactly what I want to do for my blessings. Your layouts are awesome. I have a son that graduated as a mechanical engineer from Rose-Hulman. It's a tough school to get through and I wish him much luck in his endeavor. A beautiful story about your dog. Pets are so special. We haven't had one for some time now but when the kids were growing up we had two dogs. What part of Indiana are you from? Anywhere near Bloomington?
