Christmas Eve Journaling

For me, all paths lead to the barn/manger animals for Christmas Eve!  This adorable angel is called Little Tree and she and her little lamb are so perfect traveling off to the barn with her lantern for the evening.

These Angels are available in a Big Kahuna Full Winnie Angel Set, a Big Kahuna Colored Winnie Angel Set, and a Big Kahuna Digi Stamp Winnie Angel Set.  I chose to work with the digital stamp and color her with Copic markers and gel pens.

The gorgeous paper is from Belle Papillon.  The path is made of letters from Sticks and Bones and the beautiful lyrics are from Winnie in Winterland.

Barn paper is Painted Wood.  The barn is actually the church (with some modifications) from Love and Kisses!

I added some stamping, laces, burlap, twine, star embellishments, splatter painting, button, crocheted flower, and inks from my stash.

Winnie is off to the following challenges:

Winter Wonderland:  Use Ribbon or Twine
Hiding in My Craft Room: Any Holiday
Stamping Sensations:  B is for barn, blue, burlap, button, bow, "baa"
Addicted to Stamps:  Christmas Comes Early

What would be more fun than shaking up some snow in this wintery pillow box?  I filled the shaker with clear beads and big chunky white glitter.  Here's a short video of the snowy fun!

Noel

There's a new Winnie Angel Collection from Polkadoodles!  This lovely angel is called Musical Winter and she has quite the talented choir!

These papers and the Treble Clef are from Feel the Music.

To get the 'high shine' on the Treble Clef, I started with a traditional cut from white cardstock.  I heat embossed with gold embossing powder 3 times.  Each time the gold gets shinier!

Adding some burlap, lace, and bow complete this card.

Winnie is off to the following challenges:
Mix it Up:  AG with optional Layering (3 or more layers)
Animal Friends challenge:  In the Forest
12 Months of Christmas:  AG Christmas

Delivering Candy

There's a new Winnie Angel Collection from Polkadoodles called Heavenly!  This adorable sweetie is called Delivering Candy and sweet as candy she is!  Candy Canes are such a delight during the holiday season from being a symbol of the shepherd's crook to the festive taste of the candy itself!  Winnie will definitely bring joy to her friends with her treats.

Adding a bow from stash and a little red tissue and I'm ready to gift my own little candies!

This bag is from the Cricut library and cut from from Winnie White Christmas Papers 3.  The tag cut is from Winnie Sugar Sprinkles Tags.

Winnie is off to the following challenges:

12 Months of Christmas:  AG Christmas

Would you like cream with that?

The new theme for the Cut It Up challenge is Boxes or Bags!  Don't forget your die cuts!!

This Assorted Shapes Carton from The Cutting Cafe could easily present some gift cards, candies, lotions, candies or other small gifts.  My plan is to put some coffee candies, cards, and fun flavors in it.  Maybe a gift card, too!

The cutting file comes with the carton and 12 different shapes that can be cut out of the front of it.  You can view them HERE.

I chose to use a little vignette scene in the square.  This paper is from an old paper pad in my stash called Belle Cafe from DCWV.  I'm not even sure if it is available anymore!  It's been here a loooong time and I don't have many sheets left.  Since the recipient love Dachshunds, this will be perfect for her!

These sweet pups will be dining at the following challenges:

TTCRD:  AG
Perfect Time to Craft:  AG

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.

Pearls

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday; the twist for our anything goes challenge is Pearl!

This delightful manatee, or is it a sea cow, reminded me of a character in one of my little grandgirl's favorite TV shows!  I couldn't resist using him on a Christmas tag!  He is from Miss Rach digis.

I colored him up with Copics and added some Liquid Pearls to the gift wrap.  Then my son came in and said the bow needed a pearl, too!  So, I added a little cream pearl along with some jingle bells to the festive holiday scene.

Be sure to visit
The Outlawz Twisted Thursday for all the details about the challenge and to check out all fun inspiration from the DT and participants!

Happy Fall Birthday!

The new theme for the Cut It Up challenge is Birthday!  Don't forget your die cuts!!

This charming fall digi, Pumpkins and Butterflies, from our sponsor A Day for Daisies is the perfect image for my sister's birthday card.  She is a teacher and loves children's literature.  This image, which I chose to color with watercolor pencils, seemed just right for her.

The cut is Fall Frame in the Cricut library.  Now, Fall Frame is actually from Holiday Cakes, but I thought it would make a beautiful frame around this Autumn scene!

I printed the digi out on watercolor paper using an inkjet printer.  I colored with a variety of different watercolor pencils and finished with painting.

The frame was cut from stash papers and inked with sponges.  I used strips of foam to pop it off the image.  I mounted it all on a circular brown card base cut from Sentiments in the Cricut Library and added a few gems.

This little darling is off to the following challenges:

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge:  Autumn include Cricut Die Cut
Fab 'n' Funky:  BINGO:  Yellow, Circular, Flowers or Die Cut, Yellow, Gems
Stinkin' Inkers:  Leaves are Falling ~ Use fall colors

Slaying Dragons

It's a new challenge over at Digi Choosday and we are sharing Fantasy projects this week and my project combines a bit of fantasy with story/art/parable in my journal.  Our Challenges are always Anything Goes for all of your wonderful entries!

I turned to the Little Dudes Knight & Dragon, also available in the Little Dudes Big Kahuna Bundle, for my focal image.

My Project Details

Digi and part of sentiment:  Polkadoodles Little Dudes Knight & Dragon
Legend Title:  Polkadoodles Little Dudes Knight & Dragon
Flourishes:  Polkadoodles Winnie in Winterland
Papers:  Polkadoodles Little Dudes Big Kahuna Bundle
Homemade Arrow Stencil
Deco Foil and Transfer Gel
Glass Beads
Vinyl for top flourish and words "When" and "cannot"
Inks, sponges, glue, tape runners,

If you need some direction in making a stencil, check out this VIDEO.

I started by printing my verbiage and digi onto their respective papers.  I also cut a mask for the digi.  I laid the mask over the knight and dragon and then placed my stencil over that.

I sponged the Deco Foil Transfer Gel through the stencil and let that dry for about an hour or so until it turns clear. Finally, I placed the foil over the gel and sandwiched it with cardstock in parchment paper to run it through a laminator.  Now there are shiny bits of arrow and shattered fragments adding to the magical fantasy feel!

Copic coloring the digi followed with adhering it all into my book.
A few little gems & ink and it's done!

If you are interested, here's my journal story.

You might be wondering how this fits into my journaling.  Well, it's a long and turning story, but I'll be brief!  Back in May, I was diagnosed with a very, very rare auto-immune disorder called Churg Strauss/ Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis; 2.4 out of a million are diagnosed a year!  Believe me, this was like chasing down a dragon....that's the dragon connection to this adorable digi.

Now, you might be thinking, "Ok, but how does that tie into the story from the Apocrypha?"  Well, Churg Strauss has no cure; in other words, it cannot be slayed!  However, it can be tamed to the point of living with it in most cases....just like the dragons in the story/parable.  Of course, in the Apocrypha story the decision was made not to slay, but to tame (at least that is the way I understand it- I'm no scholar or authority on this topic!)  In my case, I'd rather slay my dragon (CS/EGPA), but that's not do-able at this point! Therefor, I will be content with taming the little magenta beast by thinking big!  ;)

Why a magenta dragon?  That is the color of eosinophils under the microscope!  That is how I tie it all together in my unusual, off-beat way of thinking...
