Using My Journal...1st 3 pages

Time to use that journal!
Some of us love making journals, but we don't use them.  They sit on the shelf and collect dust; we forget about them until we look back over projects we've made.  Hmmm.....  That made me ponder why I would want to inspire someone to make something they wouldn't, couldn't or might not know how to use.

So, this whole concept prompted me to shoot some video(s) while working in my book!  I'm using  Polkadoodles Li'l Miss Sugarpops journaling bits with Horace and Boo, Work & Play Collections, and many others.  (For a full list, see the Material List below.)

Grab your favorite beverage and snack and join me for some ideas on using all the fun journaling pieces, ephemera, and embellishments in a journal!

I hope this has sparked your imagination on how to use your book and make it your own.  If you have ideas you want to share, leave them in the comments on one of my videos.  I'm sure others would enjoy seeing them.  If there is something you'd like to see me add to my book, let me know!  I'm always looking for new ideas!

Red, White, and Blue

The new theme for the
Cut It Up challenge is Red, White, and Blue!  Create any type of project, but don't forget your die cuts!!

This adorable little patriotic box/bag from Cutting Cafe is perfect to house some candies for the 4th of July!  It was cut from the Star Box template that comes with star cuts, a frame, the star border, and the box cut. There are also 7 tags with sentiments and 7 sentiments only included in the set.

I went with a very traditional red, white and blue for my bag.  I cut the box, border in red, tag (print and cut), red tag, and blue stars.  Next, I did a quick Copic color on the tag.  I adhered the star border and stars.  I thought adding some sparkle tape to the handle would add some fun before assembling the box.

To finish it up, I added a piece of scrap blue on the inside to cover the star cut in the box and I added the ribbon and tag!

Making a Mask with Your Cricut

It's so easy to make a mask from a digi with your Cricut.  Let's say you have a favorite cloud digi and you just love the shape, you can make a mask from it just as you could a rubber stamp.  Well, not exactly the same way, but you get the same result!

Let's say you want to mask out a digi because you want to color it later, or you've just spent hours coloring it, and you want to sponge in a background.  It's so much easier if you have a mask that fits exactly.  Well, you can cut it on your Cricut!

Check out the video below for the details.

Fun at the Beach!

The Digi Choosday Team is sharing projects featuring the following:
1. Theme:   Sea/Ocean/Beach - 2 choices: use ONLY ONE of either of these colour palettes. I chose the color palette to the right.  ➜
2. Use: Any image:  Snorkeling Winnie
3. Make:  Anything which includes an aperture/hole of some kind with something behind it - goggles

Of course, it's always Anything Goes for all of your entries; so come join us for a chance to win some Polkadoodles digis!

I started with Winnie Snorkeling digi and printed her, a blue frame, and the dark blue sentiment.  I made the background a light, warm grey color to match the photo above.  I printed out just her face with goggles again and then fussy cut the goggles.  I print and cut the PRECOLORED sea creatures, as well as the other elements of the card, in Design Space with my Cricut.

I colored up the image in the color palette from above...or as close to it as I could, and added some white gel pen for accents on the water.  I added some brown gel pen on the bag, buckle, and lighthouse.

I cut the the inside of the goggles out with an x-acto knife to make aperatures and glued in some acetate.  Then I cut really thin strips of foam tape...and I mean REALLY THIN... to pop the goggles up over the little sea creatures to make them look like they were in the goggles!

Welcome Summer!

The new theme for the
Cut It Up challenge is Welcome Summer!  Create any type of project, but don't forget your die cuts!!

Newton is hiding amongst the fruit while enjoying his fruity drink! I did some creative masking here with the Newton Loves Coffee Stamp!  I used Cricut Design Space to print the fruit onto the card.  Then I strategically stamped in Newton and Copic colored him!  Then I placed parts of the fruit die I had cut over the printed fruit and put Newton's paw over that!

The cup is from Newton Loves Coffee Stamp and was cut with the Newton Loves Coffee Die Set on my Spellbinders Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine.

This summery card included the following cuts/stamps:
