Easter Wheelbarrow

It's all about Easter at Cut It Up for this challenge!

I had the pleasure of working with this great cutting file, WheelBarrow Treat Box, from Cutting Cafe !  This delightful little box is so cute and has loads of options to make it your own with your selection of papers and embellishments.

The papers I chose were all in my stash.  I believe the yellow, oranges, and blue polkadots are retired CTMH and the large sparkly polkadot and rik-rak piece are unknown at this point.

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.

My wheelbarrow is rolling off to the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by!  Make yourself at home and feel free to peruse other posts/pages, leave a comment, and/or check out my Pinterest and YouTube Channel.

Beautiful Yellow

As we venture further into yellow on our journey at Path of Positivity, I am looking at how yellow can be a very positive color boosting our morale and making us feel more positive about our life situations.  As we all know, yellow is the warmth of the sun, the color of many beautiful flowers, and symbolizes energy & joy!

*   *   *
This is the 3rd in my Color tag series.  (You can view tags 1 and 2 below.)  I have used the beautiful image Pierrette from Imagine That Digistamp.  I started with my cereal box tag cut and covered it with a black and white floral paper.  I covered that with yellow tissue paper.  Layered over that is paper from Decosse Dynamite Doodles Taste of Summer.  This lovely yellow sunburst is where I printed the sentiment from Pierrette.

Once that was off the printer and cut, I did some stenciling with a harlequin/diamond stencil using texture paste.  I cut the stencil on my Cricut, so I had some of the stencil in black left over.  I tucked it in between the 2nd and 3rd layer on the right.

The top layer was printed on a printer and cut on the Cricut.  I also cut a mask for Pierrette.  This way I could stamp over and around without disturbing the focal image.  I colored her with Copics and added some sequins.  I cut a black bracket to match the left side of the main image.  It was heat embossed with black powder.

Be sure to come on over to Path of Positivity and see what the team thinks about Yellow!  You can also find more information about entering the challenge!  Thanks to our wonderful sponsors this month:  Limited Runs and Imagine That DigiStamp.

Book Mark

It's Digitally Yours at Cut It Up for this challenge! So, this means you need to use a die cut and a digital image in your project!  I have chosen to use Book Dreams from A Day for Daisies on my bookmark.

The bookmark cut is from Cricut Heritage and the feather cuts are from CTMH Artiste.

This adorable little sweetie is colored with Copics and I then added some texture to her dress with a stamp.  I also added some text with a stamp on the book.

The feathers are cut from some old stash papers, inked and trimmed out with a little gold gel.  I used some old jewelry pieces and charms to hang with the feathers.

I currently have this bookmark in my art/faith journal.  I like the way it looks hanging over the cover!

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.

Mixing It Up with MHK

The Twisted Thursday Pot of Gold is continuing and optional twist for our Anything Goes challenge is Mixed Mediums!  I was more than delighted when I saw this challenge since I have been watching lots of videos from Mike Deakin lately.  He does a lot of mixed media and vintage look.

Now, if you're not well versed in this term or think it has to be super messy or extravagant to create mixed media, allow me to share some info about this term from ArtHistory.net:

In visual arts, the term Mixed Media refers to a work of art that embodies more than one medium. For example, a canvas that features acrylic paint, ink, and collage could be termed Mixed Media. In this way, the term is an umbrella for visual art works that reflect more than one type of artistic medium. Mixed media artworks are currently popular in the art world. The term has been used since the Post-Modern art period of the twentieth century; yet the practice of combining different types of media to create an artwork dates back to antiquity.

Artists employ a wide variety of materials to create Mixed Media Art. Found objects like seashells, stones, and natural fibers may be employed. Other materials could include beads, textiles, paper, clay, ink, pigment, paint, gold leaf, charcoal, metal, and much more. Many artists enjoy working with Mixed Media as it allows for great flexibility. Mixed Media also adapts well to a wide array of styles.
I encourage you to visit ArtHistory.net and read more as well as visit other sites!  There is a lot of interesting info about the style as well as examples by some very famous artists to be seen!

About my tag:

I'm very lucky to have some wonderful old pictures I can copy and play with for this type of art.  I chose a picture of my grandmother from the early 1930's.  She worked in the office of a mortuary out in Texas where my grandfather was a funeral director.  Later, they came home to the midwest and owned their own business where my father also worked as a funeral director.

Grandma always had a letter opener on her desk as well as other necessities.  These images from MHK The Write Stuff were perfect to create the collage effect I was after for the mixed media tag!  The flower stamps behind the photo are from MHK Beauty.

Different mediums include:
Dye Inks ~ CTMH, Memento
Distress Oxide ~ Ranger
Pigment Inks~
Paint ~ Ranger
Color spray ~ Prima
Flower ~ Prima
Heat Embossing ~ Powder from Ranger
Chip board die ~ Bo Bunny
Leather
Metal Piece for top is a "treasure" I've held onto just waiting for the right project!

I'm very pleased to work with images from one of our sponsors, MHK Designs!

Antique Yellow

As we continue our series of Colors on our journey at Path of Positivity, we have come to shades of yellow.  Now truth be told, yellow is not one of my favorite colors.  I don't dislike it, just not a fav!  So, as I tried to use true yellow, I kept seeing it turn more orange, beige, gold, etc.  Pat, from PoP, told me this is a yellow ochre! Since we are working with shades of yellow, I suppose I'm still in the right area of the color wheel!  hahaha

If you are interested in viewing a video about how we see colors, check out this video.

As I was researching yellow~  yes, I'm a bit of a nerd that way~ I found yellow is the brightest color the human eye can see!  Wow, makes me wonder about the colors that might exist we cannot see!  Yellow can lift our spirits, curb our appetite, and make us feel warmer!  However, it can also have some negative effects if over-used inciting anger in some people!

Interesting how we are affected by color!  How does yellow inspire you or make you feel?

*   *   *
This adorable image is Limited Runs  Bunny Wagon!  I love the vintage feel.  I have backed it with some floral papers from Polkadoodles and added an older looking font for the sentiment.  The lace flowers are from an Offray lace with added yellow gems.  I colored white seam binding with Honey ink and tied it into a double bow.

Be sure to come on over to Path of Positivity and see what the team thinks about yellow!  You can also find more information about entering the challenge!  Thanks to our wonderful sponsors this month:  Limited Runs and Imagine That DigiStamp.
