Strength

It's time for new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and our optional twist is to use a Doily! I chose to use a chunky sort of doily oval and border on this encouragement/sympathy/stay strong card.

Having grown up in the funeral business, I have always felt trees = strength.  (I think it comes from the Batesville Casket Company....but anyway, that's probably more information than you care to hear/read!)  There's something about a tree's ability to thrive and give that is incredible to me.  They are strong and beautiful while they live; and when they die, they begin a new life!

My grandfather, who was the funeral director, was quite a craftsman and built beautiful furniture.  His most amazing pieces were rose back chairs and love seats.  What that man could do with a piece of wood was nothing short of miraculous, but then again, the wood (tree) itself was a miracle!

If you have about 5 minutes for a lovely tree video with great music, check out the video below.  It sort of inspired this card!

My Card is off to the following challenges:

Baby Shower Bag

1. CONGRATULATIONS - NOT BIRTHDAY

2. USE ANY IMAGE

My image is Copic Colored with a background from the Winston Collection.

Christmas in July!

The new theme for the
Cut It Up challenge is Christmas in July!  Create any type of project, but don't forget your die cuts!!

I love the Christmas Elf I have from my grandma's house!  This elf, who sits in my tree, has looked over my two kids and is now looking over my grandgirls!  I also have a new elf who sits out on a firetruck.  Not sure why he sits there, but he does!  ;)

I decided to create a layout of my littlest from a couple of years ago and a Christmas card using these delightful elves from Scrappy Dew!  These die cuts are so fun and full of Christmas Cheer!

Alpaca or Llama?

There's a new challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge!

The team is challenged to create a Holiday Project.
Come and join us at where it is Anything Goes; can't wait to see you there!

Now, I do claim to know a bit about horses and dogs, but I know NOTHING about llamas or alpacas.  Yes, I do know there is a difference and this particular digi is a Llama.  However, I'm going to make him into an alpaca for this card!

Now that I have that out of the way, I can continue on the card itself!  ;)  This card was created in Cricut Design Space using the Print and Cut feature....wait, why try to do all the typing when I can show you!

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage & a snack and join me on YouTube or simply play the video below!  The first part shows how I created it in Design Space and the last part is where I put it all together since the cactus and alpaca...I mean llama (hee hee) are 3 dimensional!

Cat's Out of the Bag!

 1. Theme:   Just Because
Use this colour palette  --->
2. Use: Any image
3. Make:  A penny slider project

Time for a new challenge over at Digi Choosday and the DT always has their own fun challenge to create using a criteria.  Our outline of our criteria this week is posted above!  It's always anything goes for all of our challenge entries!

I started with a that adorable kitty digi Purr-fect Kitty Cat Wishes and cut him out twice in Design Space with my Cricut.  Then I cut the backgrounds in the same light blush/pink with the sentiment from Cat's out of the Bag.  The 2nd layer of the background was cut with the track for the penny.

The bag was cut by hand and embossed; I couldn't resist using a couple of eyelets, my Crop A Dile, and a scrap of twine to create a handle for the bag.

After Copic coloring the kitty in a sort of sketchy style, I took the second kitty (uncolored) and glued him to the back to make a white backing and give the kitty more stability.  Then I stuck a strip of foam thin enough to fit into the track of my 2nd layer.  I stuck it in and adhered the penny to the foam tape.  I added the bag and adhered the 2nd layer of the card to the first layer and the card front was ready!

See the kitty slide out of the bag:

Using My Journal...1st 3 pages

Time to use that journal!
Some of us love making journals, but we don't use them.  They sit on the shelf and collect dust; we forget about them until we look back over projects we've made.  Hmmm.....  That made me ponder why I would want to inspire someone to make something they wouldn't, couldn't or might not know how to use.

So, this whole concept prompted me to shoot some video(s) while working in my book!  I'm using  Polkadoodles Li'l Miss Sugarpops journaling bits with Horace and Boo, Work & Play Collections, and many others.  (For a full list, see the Material List below.)

Grab your favorite beverage and snack and join me for some ideas on using all the fun journaling pieces, ephemera, and embellishments in a journal!

I hope this has sparked your imagination on how to use your book and make it your own.  If you have ideas you want to share, leave them in the comments on one of my videos.  I'm sure others would enjoy seeing them.  If there is something you'd like to see me add to my book, let me know!  I'm always looking for new ideas!
