Grandparent's Day

  Our new challenge over at Cut It Up is Grandparent's Day.  Seems the perfect time to create in my "Ancestry Book" for this challenge!  This page is about my father's favorite grandfather...so, my paternal great grandfather.

Grandpa Oliver was an engineer and quite talented in drawing and art.  I have his sketch books from his engineering classes and love looking at them!  I can only imagine his fascination with gears and instruments.  My dad adored this man and although I never knew Grandpa Oliver, I know he must have been a very wonderful man!

Journaling Music 5: Send in the Clowns

 I'm experimenting with a new series of art journaling inspired by my favorite music! This is my fifth layout and features art inspired by the beautiful show tune "Send in the Clowns" from A Little Night Music.  This lovely song is written by Stephen Sondheim.

One of my favorite recordings is by Barbara Streisand recorded in the mid-80's.  It begins with a melancholy English horn solo beautifully played...so mournful and perfect to set the mood.  You can hear it Here.

The lyrics in this song are so poignant; just perfect with this little heart broken circus clown dreaming of days gone by.

Wondering how I created this layout?  Check out the video below:

It's for Me!

As we meander a Path of Positivity, we are challenging you to Celebrate!  We will share different optional themes every month for you to celebrate!

We are starting August with this theme: Celebrate Your Creative Self by making something special just for YOU!

   We'd like to hear your ideas at Path of Positivity.  Come share them with us!

Remember, you may share any sort of artistic medium over at PoP:  writing, cards, journals, scrapbooking, painting, sewing, baking, needle crafts, etc as long as it is positive!  The theme is always optional.

*   *   *
  There's nothing more comfy on a fall day than a hoodie!  I love the zip kind and had ordered several for Christmas gifts last year.  I like to add vinyl decals and such for gifts.  So, I decided it was time to make one for me!  I need a new sweatshirt to wear up in the crafting room and this will be perfect!

So there it is...just for me!  ...and who is the GSD I love?
Luther, of course!

Summer Story

  Time for a new challenge at The Outlawz Paper ร  la Mode and the theme is Every Summer Has a Story!

...and does this digital layout ever have  story!  hahaha

The horses thought we were crazy using their trough as a pool on a hot afternoon, but when the temps soar and little ones are hot "ya' gotta' do what ya' gotta' do!"

*   *   *

I designed this scrapbook page using fun papers and elements from our sponsor Kate Hadfield!  For a list of the different pieces I used, please see the material list!

I don't have any fancy equipment or programs for digital creating; I simply used my notes program free with my Mac.  I'm sure those who have and are familiar with "photoshop" type programs could really do spectacular creations with these fun papers and extras!  But I was out to prove you can have fun and come up with something special on a free program with very little computer creating knowledge as well!

If you are interested in dabbling, as I am, go for it!  It's very fun and not difficult!  ...and hey, it doesn't get glue, sparkles, and ink everywhere!   hahaha

To get the Doodle Den Freebies, you simply become a Newsletter subscriber and you will get a password to get lots of fun downloads!  It's at the bottom of her home page HERE.

While you are there, check out all the ideas for teachers, card makers (hybrid creations), clipart, scrapbooking, journals, etc!  Lots to see at her site!

You'll find lots of freebies to try HERE!

My digital scrapbook page is off to the following challenges:

Inspiration Station:  Animal Kingdom (Inspired by the horse, of course!)
